I just got my Garmin 260W and have been playing with it locally to get a feel for how to use it. I set my home location and that works, I used it to go to an unfamiliar area and that worked as well, but I tried to find several stores close to my home - Target, Kohls, Sears - and none of them were found. I even tried finding one of them when I was right down the street from it. What's wrong?

Re: Some POIs are missing.
Nothing. Not all business's will show up. Try putting in their address's. Also do you have the latest maps. New maps are released about every 4 months. I bought the life time maps upgrade for $99. Or, you can buy new maps when you want, but the are about $80 each. Ouch on that!!
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US. click here to Talk to a Technician (only for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need. Goodluck!

You have a short in the wire that runs to your unit. Other than holding the wire in the exact location until your charge is complete you would be better off replacing the charging cord. They should be available at your local shop for around $19-$29.00.
You have to go to the orig location you programmed your number. It uses the coordinates of that location in memory as a "Home" See below. The Garmin Lock is a theft-deterrent system that locks your nuvi. Each time you turn the on the nuvi, you would have to enter the PIN or drive to the security location. To set the Garmin Lock on the device:
From the Main Menu, touch the Wrench (Tools) icon.
Touch Security. (you may need to touch the down arrow button)
Touch the tab labeled Off next to the Garmin Lock heading.
The nuvi will prompt you to enter a four-digit pin number.
Enter a four-digit code as your pin.
Re-enter the four-digit pin.
to a 'Security Location' and let the unit acquire satellites (the
security location will unlock the unit if the pin is forgotten or lost).
Hi, Take a look at this site, http://www.garmin.be/missing.html
Download and unzip the software, plug your garmin in the USB and start
the updater.exe program. It gets you started again. Later on you can
use the Webupdater to get possible newer software.. It worked for me and my Zumo550 Goodluck Auke

That's funny. Guess you need to brush up on your Spanish! Here's how to fix assuming you have a 260 or 260w:

This may be a result of a previous software
version on a device or possibly some one changing the settings. If a device
does power on with a foreign language that you can not understand it can be
corrected by going through the settings to change the text language. To change the text language:
Touch Wrench icon
on the screen with the Magnifying Glass and Map icon
Touch the Gears
Touch the down arrow
Touch the second
option from the top1
Touch the middle blue
box on right
Touch the up arrow
until American English appears2
The device should be in selected text language. Note 1 - In some cases, if there are Custom POIs
loaded to the device then it may be the first option at the top. Note 2 - If American English is not the language
needed, please selected the desired language
Hi It is more important to know how to add POIs. Here is a simple tip:
1. Create some directory especially for download. I use the following one: C:\Garmin_POI_GPS_DATA_TEAM
2. Download and save all CSV and BMP files to that directory. You may create any subdirectory and use it to save POIs for that category. I use: C:\Garmin_POI_GPS_DATA_TEAM\Restaurants, C:\Garmin_POI_GPS_DATA_TEAM\Petrol etc.
3. Garmin's POI Loader will find all files in these subfolders and will use them to create a category. Garmin POI Loader will search through the directory C:\Garmin_POI_GPS_DATA_TEAM and will create/transfer all corresponding POIs to your connected GPS.
4. You can remove any POI file simply by removing it from your POI folder. and re-running the POI Loader software. This POI update procedure takes about 1-2 minutes.
In summary, keep your POI files updated on your PC and run POI Loader to update your GPS or SD card via any SD card reader.
