Question about Sony KP-57WS510 57" Rear Projection HDTV

8 Flashes, Changed Flyback... still no good.

Ok, I was getting 8 flashes. When you power the tv on you would hear the sound for a second and it would power off and flash 8 times.

I unpluged the tripler and it still wouldnt come on. Since it wouldnt come on I assumed it was the flyback. I found a company locally that sold tv parts and bought the flyback. Came home and soldered that one on and it has the same 8 flashes. The only thing is that when I got home. I noticed the flyback he sold me had a different part number than the one that came off the board. New flyback is 1-453-285-21. The one that was in it originally was 8-598-955-32. The guy said it shouldnt matter. I am wondering if maybe the new flyback doesnt output the right voltage or maybe there is another problem. I am thinking of buying the whole d board... what do you think?

TV turned off sudenly. When turned on it switches on ,then off with 8 blinks.

I replaced the FBT ,same problem.

Sent D Board and G Board in to PTS electronics ,no Fault found.

Sent complete chassis(all the boards) to PTS ,No Fault found

    What could it be?

Try the High Voltage block first. Very common failure.

Sony kp-57ws500 flashes blue, green, red then turns off

Re-insering the flyback wire is usually very easy. Push in and give a slght turn and check to see if grabbed. It sounds as if there is more issues than flyback wire. TV should turn on without one crt connected

I have a sony 32'' I think. model # KV-32FS10, serial #8047927, made Jan 2000. During a move, the tv was dropped and now when you press the power, your hear the click, the red click light flashes...

It sounds like that in the drop you may have cracked the main PCB. The PCB's usually crack around the heaviest part of the PCB. Probably around the flyback transformer.

KP-57WS500 8 blinks will not power on

8 blink error code is usually indicating that the HV transformer ( Flyback) is faulty on the D board. You can get a replacement flyback at the following link with free tech support to explain how to replace it. Heres a link to the correct Flyback for the KP51-65WS500 model sonys.

Sony KP-57WS500 cutting off

Since you get a picture for a while, it is unlikely to be either the flyback or the horizontal output transistor as those would not allow a picture for any amount of time. You would jsut get the 8 flashes. This sounds more like an over voltage problem that could be in the regulator circuit. I'll look up the service manual on this one and get you more details.

Sony KV-32S66 standby timer led flashes constant, slow; no picture

You could try touching a soldering iron to each joint, but if tv had perfect image before turning off, could be a bad flyback. Cheap part and easy repair BUT must know how to discharge any high voltage if any stored in capacitor of flyback. Might be a good repair to take in to have a pro fix it.

Green Flashes - Shuts off

Sounds like the green picture tube is defective. To confirm you can take the front grille and door off and tap the green tube lightly with something plastic, and not to touch any of the adjustment controls to confirm.
