If on windows then for as a temporary solution, go to Start, All Programs, Accessories, Ease of Use, On Screen Keyboard and then simply click on your password letters to enter it. As once the on screen keyboard is on then your computer can also enter the text from there.

Now, to your problem, if you are able to write the password using the On Screen keyboard and your keyboard is working fine else where then this is a misbehavior and can occur on Windows O/S. My suggestion would be to Restore your Computer to default Factory Setting and see if it works. As this is a good and quick solution for this problem. Else you can use the above method anytime to write anything if your keyboard is not responding to a particular event.

SOURCE: My keyboard has letters that just stopped working,

i would buy a replacement keyboard for it. most of the time you should be able to find one for cheap on ebay. they are fairly easy to replace and only require popping off the plastic trim on the top edge of the keyboard, removing a few screws and the data wire. then connect and screw in the new one and pop the trim back in place.

SOURCE: Hi, I'm trying to type in my alphanumeric

Is your numlock on? That would cause some of the alpha keys to act as numbers. It's a way for the laptop to be used kind of like a 10-key number pad, but usually it's not very convenient. The letters on the left side of the keyboard should still work though. To shut off numlock it's a combination of the Fn key and which F key at the top says Numlock.

I have to enter my password several times to get my kindle to log on. I always have to log on..the signal seems to be weak adjacent to the router. authentication failed is a normal response on my kindle....

your kindle device should be able to connect the network automatically , if this is not happening try adding the network manually.
1.First, make sure you are within range of the network you want to add, and that you know the network name and password (if required).
2.From the Home screen, tap Menu and select Settings.
3.Select Wi-Fi Networks to display a list of detected Wi-Fi networks.
4.Tap Join to enter network details.
5.Use the onscreen keyboard to enter the name of the Wi-Fi network that you want to add.
6.Once the Network Name has been entered, tap the Password box and enter Wi-Fi password / Network Key using the onscreen keyboard (if required).
Tip: Tap the 123 key to enter numbers or symbols. Tap the ABC key to return to the regular keyboard. Tap the Shift key (up arrow) to enter uppercase characters. Your password may include non-English letters (accents, umlauts etc.). To view accent options, press and hold a letter down, and accent options appear.
7.Tap Connect

Does all your wireless devices have weak signal issues? If so , Then problem may be with the wireless router.Try changing the wireless channel on the router by logging into the router interface page.
Authentication failed is the message u ll normally get when u enter the password incorrectly.

Trying to set up my work computer on my Home wireless network but it keeps asking me for the Device Ownership Password. There is no password on the Lynkss device. Please HELP.

Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link. http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.15.1 or http://192.168.2.1 If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it. Then it ask for user name and password. Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank. Then you can see configuration page of router. If you are still not able to access router with above ip then you need to RESET it for that press RESET button for 10 seconds it is in back side of router then all settings defaults..Then you can access it with above method. . Then click on wireless->wireless security->WEP security there is code password note down it or enter new password then save setting s and restart router. then you can connect wireless with new password. Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks for using FixYa

My laptop asks for a Device Ownership Password and none of the numbers/letters on the 2wire device works....how do i find the device ownership password so that i can connect wireless with my laptop?

Device ownership code is part of a stupid contraption called WiFi Protected Setup (WPS), which was meant to simplify connection to wireless access points, but doesn't simplify anything in my opinion...

If the modem has been set up by your provider, then they should supply you with that number. It may be printed on a sticker on the modem itself.

Alternatively you may try finding in your laptop WiFi settings an option to disable this WPS functionality and connect in a "normal" way. It's hard to give a solid recipe, as there are lots of different WiFi software packages out there - every manufacturer seems to have an ambition to come up with their own, whereas Windows since XP Service Pack 2 onwards can use WiFi natively, without any 3rd party add-ons.

I want to change the name and the security password from default..but how? can anybody help me? thanks..

You can change the wireless name (SSID) and the wireless password by accessing the setup page. To access the setup page, do the following;

Open internet explorer or firefox and type in 192.168.0.1. It will ask for username and password. In the username field, type "Admin" , A in Admin should be a big letter. In the password field , don't type anything. Hit enter in yout keyboard and you will see the set-up page. In the set-up, look at the right side and click Wireless Settings and you will see Wireless Network Name (Also called the SSID) , and change that. Under Wireless Security Mode, change the wireless password or Passphrase.

I have a DIR-615 router and can not locate the device ownership password. It is not on the label beneath the MAC address. Any ideas?

This Device Ownership password is actually reffering to the WPS PIN number of your router which is usually on the sticker on the device. If you can't see it anywhere on the device, scan for wireless networks and connect to your network.
Once it will ask for the device Ownership password again, just click on the phrase that says " I want to enter a network key or passphrase instead" or " I don't want to configure, I just want to connect" ( this is applicable with vista ). If you have an XP computer and your using the wireless utility of your computer, disable that utility and use the Windows Zero Configuration.

Trying to connect my pc to wifi asks for a device ownership password what should i do?

Hi,

Please try the following:

XP:
1. Go to control panel. open network connections. Right click on wireless network connection and click on properties.
2. click on wireless network tab. in the preffered network tab remove all the networks and click on ok
3. try to connect.

vista:
1. Go to control panel and open network and sharing center.
2. On the left hand click on manage wireless network connection.
3. Select your network and click on remove on the top.
4. Try to connect.

It should solve the issue. If you face the same issue then access the router web interface and change the SSID (wireless network name) and try to connect.

Please let me know if it works for you.
