Follow the power cord inside the set and it ought to go almost direct to the line fuse which will have the amperage and working voltage on it--do not use a generic fuse as many of the fuses are special.

Insignia quit working after storm

Check the fuses on the power supply board first. They usually blow when you get a power surge. You may be able to replace them and get the TV running for a few dollars. If the fuses are good then the power supply board will be the issue. The main board should not be damaged because the surge has to go through the power supply board first.

How to replace a fuse

You need to remove the mains plug, remove the top cover of the oven. Make sure that you do not touch any capacitors within that can hold charge. Check the fuse on the mains power section. If blown replace with same type , move off and test on a load trip circuit as precaution. If the fuse blows then the there is short within, the magnetron, surge filters, mains capacitors and main capacitor can be a suspect.

My tv was working just fine then it stopped, no it just has a green power light but no sound or picture.

First check for the power supply area of your T.V the power supply area is located on where the main plug is mounted. check for a busted fuse usually no reading in a multimeter. check for a shorted diode or a shorted transistor that is usually 000 in multimeter. the problem might be on the power supply area. hope this may help you

Had a power surge at home and the screen the

Hi Geoff, You will need to open up your monitor. There will be a pcb fuse in the region of the mains input and you may need to replace some other components in that area which are designed to protect the monitor in just such an event as a power surge.

Panasonic plasma hdtv will not power on--no blinking LED, simply no LED. Other objects plugged into same surge protector are fine; no evidence or suggestion of a power surge.

The power supply board itself maybe the main problem inside the TV. Or, it maybe something simple like a blown fuse. Replacement fuses can be found at Radio Shack or some other electronic supply store.
If it turns out the TV keeps blowing fuses, the main power supply may need to be replaced. You can find replacements at a good price at Shopjimmy.com

Screen went black/won't power on

This is a common problem

The first step is to check the fuse on the power supply board. Next, disconnect the inverter board to eliminate the possibility of it shorting down the main and or power boards. Be careful as the inverter board supplies high voltage to the cold cathode tubes (backlights) and it bites HARD. If you disconnect the inverter and the power led comes up then replace the inverter board. (The screen will appear blank because you have no backlighting). If the power indicator still fails to light you need to suspect the main board first before the powwer supply board. The main board tells the power supply board to come on. You need to check the trigger from the main board to the relays on the power supply board. Also check the power connector to the main board because you should see +12V and/or +5V on at least some of the pins. If no power on the relay triggers then replace logic board. Then replace Power supply board last. Or buy a new monitor!!
