Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ...

Here's some things that you can do to try to correct it. They only seem to work for less than 50% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty, they're worth a try:

My camera doesn't shoot anymore.

photo's on the beach, camera obstructed? Could it be you got sand in your camera? Didyou change your lens while on (or near to) the beach? Sand in your shutter can obstruct the shutter in that case the camera has to be cleanded i don't know what the costs are for a cleaning of the body.

Push on button. Camera turns on, lens pops out.

Most of these kinds of errors come as a result of some kind of impact, sand or dirt exposure, possible water damage, or some other problem with the lens.
There is a possibility that the lens is off track.
Try pulling or pushing (not too hard either way) and see if it may be off track and return it to the correct setting.
Since it is not working anyway, try the above a few times and then test the camera to work right.
I have fixed more than one with similar (off track problems) and they worked good after wards.
Worth a try.
If nothing works, I suggest to sell it (include all that you have with the sale) on a site such as Ebay as parts, or as is repair. It should bring something like $20.00 to $50.00. The LCD is worth something over $15.00 alone. The other parts of the camera has value to those who repair cameras.

My brand new kodak m340 won't stay on. the lens pops open and then closes right back up. the camera has been charged.

I had the same problem after a day at the beach. What I did was get a can of compressed air (from the computer section) and blow air around the lens as I repeatedly turned it on. It took about five cycles, but I eventually cleared whatever was preventing the lens from fully opening.

Good luck.

Turns on and then immediately turns off

Your fix could be as simple as cleaning the camera's battery contacts, or it could be something more serious and expensive. Before you pay for expensive repairs that you may or may not need, check the Kodak Help Center by clicking on the link below. It uses a simple Q&A format to diagnose problems and propose solutions.

I had the same problem. This is how I fixed mine! Turn on camera grab the lens with two fingers before it can re-tract back into the camera and shut it self down. Use compressed air around the lens housing no more the 80 PSI. Hopefully this will remove any dirt.
It worked for me!

Hi

Your lens is defective needs to be cleaned, repaired or replaced. If you got sand in the gears it will definitely jam up the lens! Sometimes you can tear down the lens and clean out the sand, and if none of the gears are damaged the lens will then work properly again.

There are online places that will do it for a decent price and there are others that overcharge by way too much.

I know this because I OWN ONE that charges a reasonable price to do the repair! (Google 'darntoothysam')

Just let us know if we can help! Good luck from
