Make sure the account you are logged in as has Admin privileges, and manage updates yourself. Choose and only install those updates pertaining to you. Like not installing languages updates and so on.

SOURCE: Computer shut down message after installing Encore upgrade.

I'm not a Mac expert but I did find your Mac went through 4 design changes.  What is the model number of your Mac?  This is important because not all models are upgradeable per another website.

  Quote:

Is the CPU on the Power Macintosh G4 upgradable? How is it mounted?

Officially, Apple does not specify that the processor on the Power Macintosh G4 series is upgradable, since Apple has no plans to offer upgrade cards for the machines. However, PCI-based Power Macintosh G4 models have the processor mounted on a ZIF, and AGP-based Power Macintosh G4 models have the processor mounted on a daughtercard with a 300-pin connector.

To determine whether your Power Macintosh G4 is PCI-based or AGP-based please refer to the specifications for the particular model of interest, and to the Technical & Performance Q & A section of this Q & A.

Also in my research I found references that the "firmware" may also need updating.  But that may apply to a different situation.

It sounds like your computer is running to Hot>
You can check the temp. in tour Bios if you just want to see how hot it is running
I usually will run the computer for awhile and the reboot
and and before then press F4 or sometimes F2 to then go to setup
From there you bios will be there and you can see if your fans and the cpu temp and your Video cards temp..Which could be also getting too Hot and if you tweak it or if the Fans on the boards are covered in dust this will cause it to heat up. That goes same for the Cpu Fan too.

Note Please do not make any changes to your BIOS and don't Save anything

Thank You

SOURCE: Error Code

All you can do is Reinstall windows. You should get the Windows Vista Installation CD with your laptop and all you have to do is put it in and restart your computer and when the message that says "Press any key to boot from CD" press a key.

If it doesn't show up, you may have to press a key like DEL or F12 to get the boot sequencer. When you first turn on the computer you should see the Compaq logo. At the bottom of the screen you should see some buttons to press to do things like BIOS and Boot Sequence. You want Boot Sequence. Once in boot sequence, select the CD-DVD and press any key when it says to.

Once in follow instructions or oyu can reply and i will tell you how to install.

Download Win7 (same version as your original) from Microsoft.
Re-install Windows using your original key.
If re installing from USB goto the bios and change the Boot order to USB 1st - You will need to re-install all other software.
Having an ethernet cable plugged directly into your router is usually enough to get all the Win Updates required to get you going again.
The Lenovo site is a good resource for up to date drivers.

Lenovo G480 cant adjust screen brightness! please help

On AC or Battery? As I'm sure you know, your Laptop will dim the Display on Battery to save power. In Windows 7, Open the Control Panel, select Power Options, select High Performance, select Change Plan settings, set Display time, set Sleep and Hibernate to Never, select Change Advanced Power settings, scroll through each one by one and adjust. OR right click a open spot on the Desktop, select Personalize, left bottom select Display. adjust to your preference.

Can we undo window 7 anytime upgrade

no once you have upgraded, it cannot be degraded to the previous version. and do you think this will solve the issue? you had the same problem even before with windows 7 home basic genuine version, then how could you think about this problem.let me tell you that genuine or piracy version of windows does not harm the machine but it is *********** board which is creating problem.this symptom "sudden shutdown" suggests that you need to change *********** board if it is not repairable.

Hi!
Lenovo does not provide recovery discs for their systems. You would have to call Lenovo to request for one. They also have Lenovo Care, a fee-based software support if you need help reinstalling Windows 7.

My web cam stopped working after installing vista home basic

Shut down and restart the system.  Also go online and look for updated drivers web cam drivers that work on Vista.  Stick with XP, because there are less compatibility issues with peripherals.  Vista sucks a.s and is truly the bastard child of Bill Gates.  Windows 7 looks promising, but only time will tell.

Remove the update the caused the problem in add remove programs, then update manually, or turn off auto update. You can also install and use firefox instead of IE or try doing a repair to IE. Usually IE updates to version 8 and it has problems - version 7 works fine. Uninstalling 8 changes it back to 7. Version 8 will not download properly on a lot of sites - they changed it so U have to use Windows explorer instead to download from FTP sites, and it will not connect to some sites due to all of the security they installed. You could try using default settings on security and turn off filters to see if that works. When windows updates IE it automatically changes to high security.

Here is the lenovo site for the drivers for you pc. Only download and install the xp driver versions...after which you should be able to update the drivers for the devices that have the yellow color and should not have any problems installing.

You can also check the windows update site...do a custom update and search for drivers...sometimes new driver versions can be downloaded that way.

Hope this helps
