Auger control rod will not engage with actuator on ice bucket correctly. I have to keep manually moving the rod with my hand. When bucket is removed the actuator seems to operate fine.

Hello friend, thank you for your submission!
From what you have described the auger on your Frigidaire refrigerator is not operating properly when the ice bucket is installed. This could be a possible issue within the ice bucket or motor of the refrigerator. I would be happy to help look up any additional information with the use of your model number. You can locate the model number on your serial tag which is in the fresh food section. Once I have that information I would be happy to assist you further. -Matt

Out loading auger problems

if by this your saying that the ice dispenser auger has a problem ?

a few things to look at on a ice dispenser
1st remove ice bucket with auger completely out of fridge
look at back of fridge is there a build up of ice there ? if so you may have a leaking water valve for ice maker
carefully inspect the back of ice bucket to see that drive catch is not broken or missing parts
2nd verify that the door to side that contains the dispenser is all the way shut , sometimes ice build up keeps door from closing all the way to allow door switch to say ( door closed safe to dispense ice) this switch is not allways at top or bottom of door but maybe in the middle too
and last but not least , make sure all switches and childlock outs are set correct to working positions and that glass sensors detect the glass in its place

Whirlpool side by side ice storage bin will not go back into place due to the auger

I had this exact same problem. After a difficult removal of the ice bucket (admittedly a lot of yanking against frozen ice cubes before I decided to chisel them out from above), I could no longer seat the ice bucket back onto the hexagonal auger drive shaft. When activating the ice dispenser, I could hear the motor turning, but the auger shaft itself would not rotate. The cause was that the auger shaft had moved upward through its stop grommet during all of the yanking to remove the ice bucket.

Take off the two hex screws holding the top plate around the auger shaft. The shaft is then easily removable and you can inspect it for slippage against the stop grommet. In the attached photo, you can see there is about 1/2 inch of clean auger shaft visible above the grommet, where the shaft has slid upward relative to the grommet. If this is the case, the fix is simple. Turn the shaft upside down and lightly tap the grommet around the edges with a small hammer until it moves back into place. Upon replacing the auger shaft, you can feel it seat back into the drive motor adapter.

The auger in the ice maker has broken on our model gss201etaww serial dll222857. Can we just buy the auger or do we need to buy the whole ice drawer?

you can buy just a auger. But you better pretty handy. because you have to take bucket apart and lots of small parts that have to go back in the right order. might be better off buying the whole complete bucket.that is ready to go after you wash it

I have a Kenmore side by side Model 25351694100 that makes ice great, but will not dispense. I hear things moving, but no ice comes out. Can I fix this, or do I need a pro?

Usually when this happens its becasue the auger, located inside the ice bin itself, has came loose,or popped out of place. If you have the kind of ice bin that slides in, pull it out and dump th ice. You'll see a long, metal twisted rod that runs front to back. At the back side of it is a white cap that the rod attaches to and mounts in a hole in the ice bucket itself. Sometimes you can readjust it and it will work but sometimes you may have to buy a new bin if any of the plastic is broken.

I don't understand how to install the round thing that goes inside the ice tray. the piece is at the end of the ice tray that connects to the spiral metal rod that turns and releases the ice tray.

A model number would be useful, the white ring is usually between the auger and the back of the bucket, meaning the front half of the bucket would have to be removed to allow the ring to fit between the two.

When i depress the paqddle to dispense ice the auger does not engage and no ice will come out

Make sure the ice bucket is fully seated into the space below the ice maker where it rests, if not in all the way, the auger cannot engage and or the switch that tells the auger motor that the bucket is in place will not be triggered.
Good Luck !

Will not send ice cubes down the shoot just chopped ice and chilled water. The problem started when the freezer door was left open on the fridgeadair fridge.

You have a solenoid switch which switches the dispenser back and forth from crushed to cube. It could be stuck or not working or the parts connecting it could be disconnected or broken. You will have to observe to see if any parts are moving and if any noise is coming from the solenoid

You may be on the right track. Remove the ice bucket and check the square hole behind the ice bucket in the back wall of the freezer. You should be able to move the horizontal rod in it up and down with your finger. If not, it may be frozen in one position. If so, just warm the area a bit with a hair dryer to free it. Replace ice bucket and test. Another thing which may cause that is the ice auger itself may have separated from the drive shaft. (The icemaker itself has nothing to do with making "crushed" ice. It only makes cubes. The cubes are dispensed or crushed and dispensed at the front of the ice bucket using the auger and the metal parts there.) You might also want to verify that the long metal rod (which extends past the ice bucket and into that square hole) is able to move. (it is spring loaded)

Crushed ice only

Behind the ice bucket is a metal housing that holds the auger motor and solenoid.  The solenoid is bad.  When you go for cubed ice that solenoid should pull up the metal rod on the ice bucket so full cubes will come out.  First check to make sure the metal rod on the ice bucket isn't somehow caught under the solenoid and not letting if move up and down.  You can take out the ice bucket and press for cubed ice.  You should hear a loud clunk noise.  If not then you know the solenoid is not working.
