1) ALL power removed. Remove the AC adapter (Charger), and Battery.

2) Turn the laptop over bottom side up, Battery Compartment facing AWAY from you, down on a table.
You may wish to lay a soft Static free cloth on the table, to prevent scratching the table, or laptop.

3) Take this cover off,

http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/toshiba-satellite-a205/big/toshiba-satellite-a200-a205-02.jpg

Remove the Ram Memory module/s. ('Stick')
Lay them/it carefully aside. Handle by the BODY. The Body is everywhere on the Ram Memory module, EXCEPT the gold plated contact pins at the bottom.

The Body is coated with a see-through protective plastic.

4) Remove this Philips head screw, and push the optical drive out,

http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/toshiba-satellite-a205/big/toshiba-satellite-a200-a205-03.jpg

The top of the optical drive will have small Philips head screws, or Torx screws. They sell Torx screwdrivers real cheap,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torx

Remove the screws, remove the cover, remove the disk.

joecoolvette

[Sounds like you may need a replacement optical drive ]

SOURCE: i have a toshiba satellite pro U400 my cd/ dvd tray cannot open ive tryed opening it with the paperclip solution but still it is not opening

this really is a bad situation,pc's in general are very flimsy in this area in construction ,,you can easily break the internal mechanisms of the drive if you force it the only other option would be to dismantle it completly and see where it is stuck,,release it then re-assemble--good luck---Davey

How to open cd

Get a paperclip and straighten it out. Look for a small pinhole on the door of your disc player. They all have one for emergency jams and such. Push the paperclip straight into the hole, about a half to an inch should do it. When it stops on something, push a tiny bit further until the door pops open.

I can't get the cd disc to open on my toshiba and i have a cd in it any suggestions?

Go find a small paperclip - straighten it out and make it as smooth as possible - next look at the CD drive and find the two small holes - place the clip into the left hole until it stops give it a slight push like pushing a thumbtack into cork the drive should pop open if it does not try the hole on the right. If that does not work go tot the control panel open up the CD drive and click the button that has an arrow facing up with a line under it

My CD is stuck in my Toshiba Satellite A505D laptop slot, with no hole near the Eject button.

Look on the cover on the tray near the eject button. Should be a tiny hole.
Get something like a straightened out paperclip and insert it in to the hole and push firmly but carefuly. It's an emergency eject for a stuck tray.

Toshiba Satellite a135-s2386 won't bootup and CD/DVD drive won't open. The power button, plug button and battery button all come on. I tried taking out the RAM and switching the 2 RAM sticks. I also took...

I assume there is a specific reason that you mentioned the DVD drive won't open. Is it because there is a disk in it that you are trying to remove, and you can't because the laptop won't boot? You can open the DVD drive with a pin or paperclip. There is a little hole in the drive near the eject or open button. Insert a small pin or paperclip straight into that hole and push. It should pop open.

some pc have an emergency "hole" to extract cd's when the system fails look carefully on the side of your pc and have a paperclip handy so you can just gently press the straightened end into the hole (if you have one)

My matSHITa dvd-ram uj880es drive wont work.

There is a small hole in the drawer to poke a paperclip, or toothpick into and open it manually. Have you tried to see if there is a cd or something jammed in it? Or try to update the driver in the control panel system.

Dell Studio - I can't get the DVD out of the drive. I can read the DVD but cannot remove it.

Hi,

There is a small hole near the button you would push to eject the CD. Take a paper clip, and unwind it a bit. Stick it in that hole, and the CD should eject. Please let me know if you need further help.

Thanks

Dvd player door will not open. When I press to open it blinks yellow and stays closed..I have a Toshiba

Hi

Thank you for your query

There are 2 ways to try to get the drive open

1) Click on My Computer
2) Right Click on the CD drive and then click left click on Eject

If this fails there is a manual way

Get yourself a thin metal pin or paperclip, on the drive itself there will be a small hole, insert the pin/paperclip into there and give it a hard push

This will manually force the draw open

I hope this helps

Will not open anymore, door is broken

There should be a very small hole in the front of the face plate. Insert a paperclip and gently press the emergency release. The door should come open. Try this with the machine powered down.

I hope this helps

My toshiba computer optical disk drive wont open but it keeps flashing i dont know what to do! help me please

Hi there.
There are a couple of ways to open the CD/DVD tray.
Firstly you can right click on the CD/DVD icon in my computer/computer and select eject from the sub menu, or if you look very close at the CD/DVD drive near the eject button for a very small hole, if you see one get a paperclip, straighten it out and push one end in the hole until the tray ejects.

Good luck and thanks for choosing FixYa!!
