Question about Kenwood KVT-512 Car DVD Player

Open Question

Kenwood KVT-512 no longer see's the KCA-BT200 after doing a reset.

I have the Kenwood KVT-512 and had it professionally installed. For the most part I've been very happy ( would love to be able to see iphone information on screen for songs being played through bluetooth). Yesterday I was driving home and the screen stayed open after turning the engine off. I turned my Honda Element back on and the CD player did not turn back on. Not knowing what else to do I held the reset button on with the engine still on and after several seconds my CD player rebooted with the time resetting to 12, the subwoofer off, and the firmware no longer the latest. I found fixes for all those things except for the Bluetooth Setup. I have been through the settings a million times and can not find the menu that I initially used to pair my phone with the receiver. In the menu options i don't see a single bluetooth menu. Only the Bluetooth option on the audio select is there. This however has no option to set up. REALLY CONFUSED!!!! Please help!

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Just ignore the airplane mode prompt and if your wiring is correct everything should work.
With my BMW I had to connect both the solid blue (pwr ant) wire and the blue with white stripe (p conn) to the solid blue wire from the factory harness.

It isn't obvious that either of these are needed as the KVT-512 has it's own power supply but the way most factory power amps are installed the power from the KVT-512 is not used and the car manufacturers power amp needs to be turned on.

If you are listening to the radio the pwr ant wire will turn on the power amp, this didn't seem obvious because the BMW doesn't have a power antenna. And when you are using the DVD player or the iPod connection you need the P Conn wire to turn on the car power amp as the ant pwr is disabled because you are no longer using the radio and Kenwood assumes you will not need the antenna so no power to this lead.

Solder all three wires together and you should have sound all the time.

I plug my ipod to the stereo but my stereo screen still says discconected

you have to go to the kenwood site and download the firmware update go to this page http://www.kenwood.com/cs/ce/mm/firmware/2008/eng.html

after you download the file unzip it and burn it with either nero or roxio, as a data file insert the cd on your kvt-512, if it reads DISK ERROR, press the reset button on the front of the stereo, once the screen comes back up select the DVD function, the system update should start from there. let it finish once it does then you'll be able to plug in your ipod. oh and ofcourse for this you should know that you need the ipod adapter, depending on what you want to do with it for instance i have the KCA-iP300V which allows me to view videos from my ipod as well.

How do i set up my bluetooth for my kenwood kvt-512. im trying to find the bluetooth app in the settings

The Kenwood 512 works with the Kenwood KCE-BT200 module. You need to have this box plugged into the main unit to work. If not, then Bluetooth will not be available. When you do have it connected, use your cellular phone to initiate the connection. when prompted on your phone for a passcode, it will be 0000. After successfully pairing your phone to the unit, you can access the telephone menu by holding the "FNC" key on the front of the Kenwood or pressing "TEL" from the source screen.

Visit www.kenwoodusa.com for latest firmware updates. Some of the updates are specific to map software (Garmin for KNA-G510) or bluetooth (Parrot for KCA-BT200) only.
