Question about Samsung SyncMaster 930B 19" LCD Flat Panel Monitor

1 Answer

How do I take the cover off samsung 930B monitor

My monitor went dead, so I need to replace the bulbs and possibly the inverter (?) I unscrewed the three screws in the back of the monitor, but the back won't come off without some "violence". Don't want to break it, but don't know how to get it off either. Who knows?

The front and back covers snap together. Some come apart easily others are very reluctant and will break some of the retaining clips as you pry the front and back apart. Usually this does not result in a problem as there are enough retaining clips to hold it back together.
Most of these do not need bulbs. Usually just replace the power supply electrolytic capacitors that are bulging.

How do I replace the inverter in a samsung syncmaster 930B?

Hello,

The 930B and the 710T use the same power supply/inverter boards. Below is a link to a repair guide for the 710T unit that should get you going in the right direction.

Check signal cable

Check if the monitor is not working by connecting this monitor to another computer.

If the monitor woks on another pc, then the pc is the issue and not the monitor.

If monitor doesnt work on the other pc, then it's the monitor that needs replacing.

I hope this helps you :)

I have a samsung syncmaster 930b that has no picture but power light flashes and when I press the power button it will not stop flashing. what do I need to do?

Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, blown fuses, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed SAMSUNG monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

Flashing power light, no image. Is my monitor dead?

More likely to be bad caps in the power supply, it can also be bad Inverter circuits, bad lamps, bad inverter transformers. Look at the caps first. See exampleof failed monitors due to bad caps: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

SyncMaster 930B takes 20 minutes at least to become visable

IT SHOWS THAT THE PROBLEM IS IN THE POWER SUPPLY SECTION OF THE LCD. CHANGE THE CAPACITORS PLACED IN THE POWER SUPPLY SECTION. IT WILL WORK.

My syncmaster just stopped working one day after i woke up.its black but if you look close enough, you see your desktop. please help=mekondjol@yahoo.com

That means that the inverter is gone.

If you can see the picture by pointing a flashlight on display at close distance, then the inverter must be replaced. The inverter is the power board thet supplies high voltage to backlight lamp.

Regards.

Sumsung 930b goes dim,and flickers after about 3 min.

This sounds like the inverter has gone bad. If the bulb were bad only, you would see a faint image on the screen with a flashlight.

The problem is on this monitor, it will probably cost about $100 or so to take it to a shop to get it fixed, and that is nearing the cost of a new monitor.

If you are a little bit handy, and can disassemble the monitor, you can replace the inverter. The hardest thing about this, is getting the monitor faceplate open. Just use something firm and softer, such as a nylon spudger (this is something you can find online) or you can carefully use a thin scredriver. You just have to be careful, those cases are really tight.

Here is a good guide for general ideas on how it is done.

Samsung SyncMaster 191T

You have either a bad inverter board or burned out backlight fluorescent bulb. Very common on this monitor.
