Hello Alex,

The Gateway FPD2275w does not have built in speakers so the external ones are needed if you want to have sound. You can either have the external speakers or you can use a set of headphones.

SOURCE: The Gateway FPD2275W TFT LCD Monitor the screen is Black

The problem is not the setting on your monitor...The problem is the backlight inverter located inside the upper and lower edge of your screen..
It is busted. The backlight inverter is the light source responsible for the displaying image on your screen. If these were busted.. then the only thing you will see is black screen.

It is very risky for you to replace it by yourself if you don't have the knowledge and the right tools to open the back of your lcd..My suggestion is to bring your monitor to a credible technician to have your backlight inverter replace. if there is warranty for your lcd, please avail this.

Hope it help..

Much appreciated if you rate this solution..thanks..

I have a Gateway LP2207 Monitor and it will only turn on for 2 seconds then turn off. It was running fine originally until I went to lunch, came back and the monitor was black. I took the advice on this...

It sounds like your original problem was indeed a power issue that was having trouble keeping the lamps on. Replacing the capacitors was a 50/50 shot at repairing the problem and it sounds like in the process the monitor is now completely dead. The click is the lamp attempting to fire.
While you may have connected the cabling incorrectly I can not find a schematic for the inverter board to clarify what goes where. I also know that you should replace all the electrolytic capacitors as well as the ceramic capacitors as unseen damage may have occurred to them as well.

Vertical wavy on left of the screen forCRT MONITOR

If you do not have an external hard drive, desk fan, or speakers (or any other magnetic sources) near the monitor then the disruption could indicate a failure of the Tube itself.
This will mean that your monitor will need to be replaced. If you look on the back of the product there is a manufactured date. If it is older than 3 years then you are also out of warranty (most monitors are a 3 year warranty).
If you do replace your monitor I highly recommend switching to a LCD Flat Panel. 19" monitors are fairly standard now and are very reasonably priced.

The gateway FPD2275W LCD Monitor has a large vertical line on the right side which splits my screen display in half. What is it? Can't seem to get rid of it. I just had a part in changed on my pc about 3...

The vertical line on the LCD are usually caused by components failure in the LCD controller board (T-CON) which is part of the LCD panel. You can try reseting the cable connected to the LCD panel, but I doubt very much that it will fix the problem.

You have to check and see if you have audio jacks on the rear of your computer. They are small round jacks colored one pink, one green, and one black. Then you have to have a set of powered speakers to connect to these jacks. Check the users guide for your computer on how to connect each connector.

as you say that old speaker is working from the same tower means your computer is ok.

the problem is in speaker only.

plz chk that while shifting some wire must have broken or loose or speaker not connected properly.
