Hi, I was trying to fix my Mp3 player which was not being picked up by my Pc. Im running Windows XP & downloaded from disc a program for Windows 98. I only realised afterwards that I shouldnt have done this. All seems fine until I saw that I have lost all "my Documents". I cant find them. Can anyone suggest anything for me please, Im desperate. Thank you. John

Hi John
Do a "Restore"
It will restore your computer to an earlier time when you had "My Documents"
It is easy to do, but keep in mind that you will lose that Windows 98 program you installed.

1.Turn on computer
2. Left click "Start"
3. Left click on "All Programs"
4. Left click on "Accessiories"
5. Left click on "System Tools"
6. Left click on "Restore"
Then follow the instructions on the screen and your computer will be taken back to a date of your choosing when it was working good.
Please take time to rate me

Hi Bud. Thanks, I had already done a system restore which done nothing. When I tried to do it again to an earlier date it would not allow me to do it. I have read that a restore will change my settings back but not my files. Any more ideas would help. Thanks. John

Sorry John, but the only other suggestion I would have is to reinstall your complete operating system...but you will lose all your files,photos,etc...so save all you want to save on an external hard drive.

When it the zen is turned on it says firmware

Had the same problem and nearly went nuts trying to fix it. Here's what I did:

1. Uninstall all creative driver & creative software.
2. Uninstalled Windows Media Player 11 (Rolled back to WMP 10) and restarted PC.
3. Uninstalled Windows Media Player 11 Runtime and restarted PC.
4. Downloaded and Installed the latest free version of Winamp from http://www.winamp.com
5. Connected my A/C Power Cord to my Nomad Jukebox then connected my Nomad Jukebox via USB cable to the Computer.

The computer should then recognize the Nomad Jukebox as "Found New Hardware" then "MTP Device" and lastly "Your new hardware is installed and ready to use.

6. If you haven't already, go to the creative website and download the Creative Zen Xtra PlaysForSure Firmware 2.10.03 and save it to your computer.
7. Run the Firmware (Make sure Nomad Jukebox is connected) and at this point the Computer should recognize the Nomad Jukebox and begin the upgrade.

After your upgrade is complete, You can go ahead and re-download Windows Media Player 11 and it will recognize the Nomad Jukebox. Not sure what version of windows you have, but I have two computers, one with windows xp and the other has windows 7 and Im able to transfer music perfectly fine with Windows Media Player and RealPlayer on both computers. I hope this works for you. Good Luck!

The following formats can be played on Windows media player:

avi
mov
mp4
mpg
mpeg

Normally DVD players cannot read compressed formats, if you have a regular DVD/MP3 player, that wont read any of the formats above, or with some luck will read only uncoded Avi, mov or mpeg.

The formats above are all compressed formats, and often they need additional software call codecs, they can be read on computers, but they generally are not working on dvd players.

To be sure that a DVD will read compressed computer movies, you need a special DVD player with Divx , like the one below:

from your desktop select <START> then <PROGRAMS> <ACCESSORIES> <PROGRAM COMPATIBILITY WIZARD>
If you cant see "Getting older programs to run on Windows XP" in the box for "Fix a problem" then type it into the search box. It will bring up a program with instructions to follow to allow the windows 98 driver to run on your operating system.
It worked for me, now I just have to figure out what to do with it

Have you downloaded Widows Media Player 11? That should fix it. If not, download sa6025_97_pal_eng from http://www.p4c.philips.com/files/s/sa6025_97/ and run it.

My windows xp is not genuine

Get your friend to download windows media player for you. Usually the computer will recognise the mp3 device automatically but it depends if you have xp sp2 installed. YOu can get hold of it via P2P so you dont need to go through the xp genuine check
