I just finished changing the thermal fuse on my dryer, model MDE5500AYW, and it solved my problem. The thermal fuses can be purchased at any appliance part store...and cost me $4.

Control Panel is on but no response to buttons being pushed. Recycled power - no help

Have been having the same problem on and off for about 9 months now. It would unfreeze quickly at first by heating the top of the dryer cabinet at the control panel with a hair dryer (believe it or not). Got tired of doing that every time I need to use the dryer so just ordered a new control assembly with touchpad. Here's the link: http://www.appliancepartspros.com/part_details.aspx?part_id=4043476
Good luck

Lg dle3777w dryer filter light remains on and dryer is not working even after cleaning the filter.

I'm sure you solved the problem but as i had the same problem on my electric LG front loader and saw no response i figured I would leave one for anybody else in the future. My girlfriend told me the dryer would not start and as i looke i saw the panel would not power up, I unplugged the power cord for 5 minutes and the LG reset and the panel was on and reading clean filter after checking the filter which appeared clean I tried to restart the dryer at which time it powered off. I again unplugged the dryer and replugged it and again the display read clean filter. I then gtabbed a phillips #2 and unscrewed the filter lint sceen which had a total of 4 scews in the interior of the dryer holding the filter housing unit. Youll see a piece of the housing unit remains screwed into the washer hooked up to two electrical plugs. Seperate both plugs from the unit and unscrew it and remove the unit youll notice two silver strips on the unit and I'm guessing will be covered with a small amount of lint. Clean the unit with a brush and damp cloth inside and out reattach the unit screw first and housing unit and turn on. If the dryer again turns off unplug and youll see the clean filter light. Simply push the custom program light or anything similar and the panel should start working again. I hope this helps someone.

Dryer quit working. Completely dead

Hi, If this is a whirlpool model dryer, try this: Normal 0 UNPLUG the dryer! Remove the rear panel of the dryer and locate the fuse. It is white and ¼” wide and 3” long. It is located on the blower housing. Remove the wires and check to see if it has continuity. If it does not, you need to replace it. If this is another brand dryer, please let me know the model # so I can assist yyou further.

Thanks
Vic

Dryer wont start.

If your dryer doesn't work at all, it could be because of problems with:

Power from the house
Door switch
Thermal fuse
Wiring
Power from the house Check to see whether there's power getting to the dryer. Is it plugged in? If you plug something else into the outlet, does it work? If not, check for a blown fuse or tripped circuit breaker.

Door switch If the door switch or the door-switch actuator is defective, the dryer won't work and you need to replace the failed component. The switch is inside the dryer main housing near the door frame. Sometimes you need to raise or open the top or front of the dryer to reach the switch.

Thermal fuse On many dryers, there's a thermal fuse (a heat-sensitive fuse that blows if the dryer overheats) mounted to the exhaust duct inside the back cover panel. The fuse is about an inch long. It's usually embedded in black resin and mounted in a white plastic housing.

If the fuse has blown, it has no continuity. When this happens, your dryer either just stops heating, or it doesn't work at all. Be sure to inspect the venting/heating system before replacing the fuse to put the dryer back into operation. (You can't re-set this type of fuse.)

Wiring Often the main wiring connection from the house, at the dryer, burns and the connection breaks. In this has happened to your dryer, you need to replace the power cord and the terminal block inside the dryer to which the wire is attached.
Tip: Always provide the complete information provided on the manufacturers product information data tag, located on the unit, and not in the user’s manual. This will help you acquire a more accurate and expeditious response to your complaint.

No pwer in Control panel but light is on the the dryer

You may have blown one of the two circuit breakers at the building fuse box. Sometimes they are physically linked together so that both trip at the same time. This is how it's suppose to work but sometimes one will trip leaving you with half power but enough to work the minor circuits. Resetting the circuit breaker is an easy fix. If this doesn't work ohm out the thermal fuses. They are ususally accessable by lifting the top. With it open check that all connector are connected.
