Could be failing, could be full, could be fragmented files, could be you have indexing turned on. Since you didn't mention which OS, I can't give specific instructions. Right click the drive letter in explorer and select properties. See if the disk is full. If not use the help function and turn off indexing if it is turned on.

This laptop is very slow

Slowness in the laptop can be due to many reasons. You may upgrade your processor( to i5 or i7), but that will be too costly. Try increasing the RAM of your laptop. Also don't overflow your hard drive. Decrease in free space on your hard drive will ultimately slow down your laptop.

Slow System Performance Due to Failing Hard Drive

Hard drives will often start making errors before they fail completely. In WINXP, the system will recognize drive errors and will throttle back the speed of the drive interface to try to improve things. Unfortunately, this makes the system really slow and fakes the effects of a virus/trojan. If you can't find any malware and your system is a slug, check in the hard drive properties and check until you find the hard drive interface mode. If it says PIO instead of DMA, then something is wrong. You can change it back, but if the drive creates more errors it will just switch to the slow setting without telling you. Clone your drive ASAP! I used xxclone which is free.

Status code 351f0000d08002008007045d my xbox started running extremly slow online

Your Hard Drive/Memory Card is failing, You must replace your hard drive. the reason why its running slow is because your hard drive is not sending its info fast enough which causes to slow your system down.

in order to clear that update code you must disconnect every memory unite you currently have, get a USB drive and got to xbox.com/support and download the latest update files. Insert your USB and your system should accept the update.

Thanks

Test the computer's Hard Drive. There are a lot of reasons you might want to test your hard drive for problems. One of the major reasons to perform a test would be if your hard drive is making strange noises. This can often be a sign of a failing drive, something a test can point out.

If the problem is a software issue (virus or too much software installed on the PC) running a System Recovery should have fixed the problem. Try running a test on the computer's Hard Drive. A failing Hard Drive causes slow performance (slow boot, slow computer performance, programs takes too long to load or will not laod at all). And another indicator that the Hard Drive is failing is clicking noises. If you hear clicking noises, backup your files as soon as you can.

You can use free Hard Drive diagnostic tools what can be downloaded from the internet. One of them is Seagate Seatools. You can download it from here - click this link

SeaTools for Windows can perform several basic tests that can help determine the health of your hard drive. Your available hard drives and tests are easy to see when the program opens and can be ran with just a few clicks of the mouse.

Hope this help. Goodluck!

The system is slowing down when I use WD 500 GB ...

Hi mortonwood12. it could be two things. 1.- you have way too much information on that drive and 2.- either the enclosure or the hard drive is going bad. (Sorry to be this harsh). What I recommend is get another hard drive and backup all your data "pronto"!. Then remove the hard drive from the enclosure (it could be a little tricky) and then trying connecting the hard drive internally. If you still have the same problem, then it's the hard drive. Dont use it anymore. I wont get any better. I hope this helps and please dont forget to rate and provide positive feedback for our free support today. Thank you :D

Hard disk very slow and restart.

Seagate is known for hard drive failures. The S.M.A.R.T. feature may warn you that the drive is failing. This is not uncommon and is most likely the case of why it is going slow now. You should contact seagate ASAP to see if they can give you a replacement.
