Disconnect speakers and wires. Bad wiring or defective speakers may be loading the amp down and causing the protection circuits inside to disconnect (no sound). If the HK is heating up (beyond what you perceive as normal) with no wires or speakers connected then you have a problem requiring expert repair.

Beth, Protect mode in this unit indicates an open or short problem in one or more of the primary amp IC's in this unit. For a qualified shop this is a bit of a challenge sometimes disasembling the unit to put the amps in... The amps sit on a large aluminum heatsink and and each have their own set of feed resistors and caps. Each amp found to have failed should have their compliment of resistors and caps tested in orfer to prevent premature failure of the new amp(s)... If you're looking for a repair shop to do the job find someone who specializes in stereo receivers and amplifiers. If you're not sure where to begin you might call NESDA (National Electronic Service Dealer's Assn.). They can direct you to a member shop in your area... Hope this helps, Good Luck! Bill

Receiver shuts off

Check the on/ off switch contacts, they may be burning out. Replace the switch or try spraying some contact cleaner into the switch from the inside.

Hi there, our amp is giving us very low sound output even when volume is turned up to maximum volume. We have been unable to find the remote and are wondering if the remote was turned right down would that...

I'd look at the front panel for the Mute Button and the Mute Indicator, but turn the volume down for any further investigations. If you can't hera the sound at 1/2 volume, it ain't there. No sense risking a sudden volume surge that will kill your speakers when you finally find the problem.

Also check the T-Mon Indicator. If it;s on you have the Tape selcted for listening instead of a source.

Volume/Mute Indicator: This

indicator will glow green when the

HK3270 is turned on. Its position

will enable you to judge the relative

volume of the unit even when the

speakers are muted or turned off.

When the indicator is pointing

towards the left, at an "8 o'clock"

position, the volume is low; when

it is pointing to the right, as in a

"3 o'clock" position, the volume is

loud. When the unit has been muted,

pressing the Mute button ïâthe
indicator will flash

I have a Vizio 42' and a cable box and there's a constant humming

I think I had the same problem. This is how I fixed it.

I have my vizio 42 hooked up to a Harmon Kardon surround sound, and the digital cable box. Essentially, I can adjust the volume 3 ways - through the tv, cable box or av receiver. The humming sound happens when you have the volume maxed out on the av receiver and not the cable box.

For example, the sound level on my Harmon Kardon goes from -10 (lowest) to 10 (loudest), with 0 being the middle ground. The buzzing was happening when the Harmon Kardon was set to 10, and I was using the cable box volume to adjust the sound. To fix it, I turned down the volume on my receiver to 0, which may be about 50% max volume of the receiver. Then, I switched devices and used the volume on my cable box. This got rid of the static I was getting. Hope that helps.

Harmon kardon avr 25 II

hey i also had this problem, i don't know the name of these but they are basically plugs that you have to block output from the front rear and center speakers of the white/red cables... sry for bad description but its on the left side when looking at the back of the receiver, while all of the other speaker wires should be hooked up to the right with the twisting knobs... it took me forever to find this out but yeah it was a simple fix
