Why my jl audio 1400d amplifier stays in protective mode?

My JL Audio e1400d amplifier wont work. The normal green power light will come on but so does the red protective light indicating there is a problem of some sort with the amps electrical componets. It doesnt smell burnt or get hot or show any indication of short circuiting that I can tell when the amp was hooked up and the problem discovered. I love all things JL so please help....thanks

JL Audio 500/1 Amp, The green power light is on but no sound!

Check to be sure you are on the correct outputs on the head unit, and be sure the outputs do not have a separate volume control.

Green light blinks slowly on my JL Audio 300/4 amp

Check your fuse at the battery. While AGU glass fuses "look" good, when you read the voltage AFTER the fuse, you can only be getting 5 volts or so. I can't tell you how many times I have seen this.

Disconnect all speaker wires from the amp and disconnect the RCA cables from the amp. If it still goes into protect mode, use a multimeter to confirm that you have 12v on the B+ and remote terminals. Place the black meter probe on the ground terminal of the amp when measuring the voltage. If the voltage is sufficient and the amp goes into protect, it will have to be repaired. JL only accepts repairs from authorized dealers. You'll have to find one in your area or you'll have to find a repair shop willing to work on JL amps.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

My jl Auido 250/1 amp

You may have a bad output on the amplifier. I would recommend taking it to a local electronics repair to have fixed, or visit a local stereo shop - preferably a JL Audio dealer. Visit their website at www.jlaudio.com to find a dealer near you. You can have your amplifier sent in to JL Audio for repair by an authorized dealer and you'll get a warranty on the repair work.
