Water is cold. I took out the heating element and it works good when supplied direct 220V. Can someone describe how to find the thermostat? Thank you!

SOURCE: AEG DISHWASHER, DOES NOT HEAT WATER.

I had this same problem on our AEG dishwasher. The reason was on the controller board. There is one relay switch which drives the heater element. One of the legs of that relay box was disconnecteds from the circuitboard. Check this out.

SOURCE: Water not heating. Element replaced with new but still no joy.

The water is heated via a "inductive heater" and not the usual heating elements. This heating device is at the bottom back of the dishwasher and is a cyliderical +/- 15 cm long metal tube. It can easly be removed by the wire clamps at each end. It does have electrical push on connector that just plugs out. If the electrical connections are good I suggest you replace it with a new one (if you can get one).

Heater, 230V./2000W.-d.32mm.
The heating element, which is encased inside a tube, is used to heat the washing water. The heating element is not activated during the drying phase. Inserted into the delivery side of the washing pump and coupled with the duct which directs water to the upper spray arm.
Built-in safety devices: Two thermostats
First thermostat: auto-reset bi-metal thermostat calibrated to 98°C and connected in series to one branch of the heating element.
Second thermostat: manual-reset fuse calibrated to 206°C and connected in series to the second branch of the heating element. If this fuse intervenes, the heating element is disconnected definitively.

Water won't heat

It could be a malfunction heating element, thermostat or both.
In most cases it's the heating element.
Check with a multi-meter for 115/220V on the heater tags.
In case you get this voltage there, you should replace the heating element.
In case you can't read the 115/220V on the heater tags, check thermostat's for continuity (you should read a low resistance). In case you can't get any measurement. You should replace the thermostat.
Good luck

Aeg dishwasher will not drain

The washer has a drain motor in line with the outlet pipe. The motor must turn when in outlet mode. This motor has an impeler that turns at high speed to pump out water in the outlet mode. The motor could be faulty or the lelectrical push on connectors to the motor loose. One can remove the motor and coonect it directly to the mains voltage for a few seconds to check if it spins (also make sure that nothing is blocking the impeler from spinning).
