Question about HP Deskjet 3520 e-All-in-One CX056AB1H
No options in dialogue box to let me choose color printing even though this is a color copier with fresh cartridges. Very, very frustrating as I have had 4 of your copiers die on me in 14 months, and am now on the 5th. Copier prints B&W only, no way to change to color. I have tried everything. Looking at posted solutions is a time waste as most of the steps I am told to follow can't be accessed on this printer. I just REALLY REALLY REALLY need to be able to work here and that requires a printer. I am so so so sick of HP print problems.
When you go to print something, the screen comes up with the print instructions
no of copies
print all print pages etc
there you will find a properties tab
click on that and it takes you to paper size next tab is black & white or color click on color and then down the bottom click on default
as to problems with hp printers , I use a hp deskjet 2050 series now over 9 years old and still capable of printing out manuals up to 1000 pages long so makes me wonder if you are expecting too much from your printers and why with so much dissatisfaction with a product, you still persist in buying the brand

Try runing the printer test and see if colors print. If they don't your color cartridge is cloged. You can try to set the print head(copper strip on bottom of cartridge) on a damp paper towel for a while to try and unclog the head. You should see the colors on the towel. Dry head off and try again. Hp uses water base ink and it will dry up after setting for awhile. The printer knows it has ink in the cartridge, because it will try to print, so it has to be the print head.
The print head has two lines of holes or jet for each color and if some of them are cloged, it will look striped or missing colors.

Try go to system prefs, print and fax. Remove your printer from list then add it again. It may pay to uninstall software first, then reinstall

The best answer is for you to buy a laser printer rather than inkjet. The laser printer will print at a lesser cost per page than the inkjet, and the color issue will be resolved

SOME TIME THE PRINTER IS NOT DETECTED ON THE NETWORK DUE TO SOME FIREWALL EXCEPTIONS
So we will try to overcome the problem before that lets delete all the entries of the printer so insert the Cd of the printer driver and then open the content and go to the UTIL folder of the CD and then open CCC and then Run the UNINSTALL_L3 file and wait for it to finish then restart the computer
NOW Press the Setup button on the all-in-one. Press the arrow buttons until Network displays and then press OK . The Network menu displays. Press the arrow buttons until Wireless Setup Wizard displays and then press OK . Follow the instructions in the Wireless Setup Wizard. enter the router password when it says connected to network then press ok and press the setup button again and go to network and then go to view network settings and print network config page
the page will print out look fot the ip address on that page now click on the start button and go to run and then type cmd and press enter and then in the black screen type Ping(give a space and then the ip address of the printer without these brackets) and press enter now if it says reply from destination and then gives sent 4 lost 0 recieved 4 that means the printer is on the network
Now run the priner driver and then install the printer through the network if still it says no printer has been detected then click on start and then run and then type services.msc in the window look for hp cue and hp device discovery (network ) both the services should say started and automatic if its stopped right click and start it
now retry if sill not detected then click start run and then type devmgmt.msc now in the window that will open go to view menu and select show hidden device and then in the list look for multifunction adaptor and then under it you will se the printer name right click on it and select enable now retry even if still you have a problem then rightclick on the multifunction adaptor and delete it and then retry it hope tis will surely work but still if you have problem just let us know

Try to take the cartridges out and clean the cartridges and cartridge holder with damp clothe
now shake the cartrdges and clean it agaian with damp cloth
put the cartridges back in and see if it works
