SOURCE: what is the interlock for a staples shredder

if you look at the underside of the shredder, you will likely find a pressure switch that is actuated when it sits on the stock bin, either modify it to touch when on the new bin or secure it so it is depressed all the time. This should allow it to operate on the replacement bin.

Hope this is of some help.

SOURCE: staples spl-710sh paper shredder stopped shredding

This exact thing has happened to my unit as well. Ive disassembled it to discover that 5-7 teeth on the gear that the motor drives have been stripped off. Unless the gear can be replaced (which is probably not worth the expense), then the unit is toast. Sorry. Good luck.

I owe this to a Steve-EE.

Mine was the LED where the paper feeds. $1.69 for a 2 pack.

My shrdder won't shut off automatically

It has a paper jam blocking the sensor. Unplug and make sure there are no peices of paper in the shedder teeth. If you have compressed air,, like a dust destroer, use it after you make sure it's clean of paper shreddings.

Need parts for spl-710sh sheredder

Some parts are available at electronics stores (Radio Shack) and can easily be installed by you. Another thing is how old is it and how long is the warranty? Staples should honor that warranty if it is still within the time frame of the warranty. Otherwise, it may be cheaper in the long run. Not knowing WHAT parts you need is the key element here.
