Massey ferguson 135 pto keeps throwing out of gear drives but pto wont stay in gear why

possible that the teeth of the pto dog are worn to a taper and not fully engaged
the lever for the engagement is moving the full travel to engage
the bearings on the pto shaft are failing and allowing misalignment of the shaft thereby walking the dog out of engagement

Engine stalled while pto engaged. Now pto will not disengage engine will not start. Act like it is locked up.

You will need to disengage the PTO before it will start as it is holding the engine back from starting. You should be able to disengage the PTO and roll the engine over and it should free itself up unless a bearing is hung up.

Pto won't disengage, unable to start tractor. pto attached to post hole digger in ground

It could be gear bound and not allowing it to disengage, i experienced that a few times in my farming days, we dug a lot of postholes with a PTO driven digger. What usually happened is i ended up getting caught on rocks and stalled out because i had the engine speed to low. What i generally had to do to fix it was remove the PTO shaft from the digger, disconnect from the tractors output shaft, then get it started and everything moving, then disengage the PTO and reconnect the post hole digger, then give her hell and get the engine speed up before re-engaging the PTO, that would generally shock it loose. If not then i would have to disconnect the PTO shaft again and spin it backwards by hand to rotate the digger in the opposite direction to remove the hangup.

What could the possible reasons why the pto will not disengage on my MTD 42" Zero Turn Mower.

Basically your PTO is an electro magnetic clutch....when power is applied (12 volts) from the battery, the magnet is energized and the two plates come together and you have then energized your PTO clutch and it should drive the V-belt....so If you disconnect the power to the magnet the magnet becomes denergized and the two plates move away from one another ,thus the v-belt stops turning .
It could be the switch,or more than likely it is a "relay" that has gone bad ,ie, the contacts on the relay have become pitted with use and stick when they get hot from use....thus when you disengage the PTO switch the relay stays in contact thus delivering power to your PTO clutch .....if you have a wiring diagram of your unit you should be able to find the "safety or PTO relay" again this is just my theory!
If you can use a meter, you could check for voltage on the PTO wire when you disengage the PTO switch,if power is still present then we know it's an electrical issue with the switch or relay ,OR some how power is back feeding down this wire that keeps the clutch energized????? Maybe two wires making contact ????
Unfortunately a good small engine mechanic may be the way to go on this repair ......most people have a clutch that won't engage !
I hope this sheds some light on your issue ,Jim

I have a cub cadet ags2130 that stalled with the pto engaged. Now the engine will not start due to the pto not disengaging. How do I disengage the pto.

Sounds the clutch may have failed but try just unplug it just it an electrical problem. Also check to see any of the v-belt cords came loose and wrap themselves up in the clutch. I had one a couple years that this was the problem.

Another thing you could do is completely remove the PTO clutch to see you have a bearing failure in it.
