Question about Saeco Magic De Luxe Espresso Machine

Open Question

Saeco Magic Deluxe central unit warning light

The central unit (CU) warning light started flashing after machine start up. It was running OK the previous day. I removed, cleaned and reinstated the CU.
The CU warning light continues to 'flash' after the CU has been replaced. Overriding the micro switches for the door and grounds container, I can toggle the CU micro switch but this appears to have no affect on the warning light; it continues to flash. I suspect the CU microswitch has failed. Any other suggestions before I start pulling apart the machine? How do I access the CU microswitch?
I am a qualified electrician so replacement should be easy enough?

Have checked the electrical operation of the CU microswitch -it's OK. Any other suggestions? Is there another switch to be made when the CU is inserted?

How does the machine tell the difference between the CU 'missing' or the CU 'not correctly mounted'?

There are 2 Fuses next to the heating plate (booth G4A00 121C). If the temperature was higher than 121 Celsius = broken. Price about some cent. The bigger question is, what was the reason?

SOURCE: Saeco Magic Deluxe - trouble light on

Not sure which light you are refering to because the far right light shuld be temp ready light. The one you describe slunds like the descale light but that shouold be second to from the left. In which case it is telling you to descale. I can't attach a manual here so do a search for saeco repair and an authorized repair center should be able to get you one.

Sound like descaling warning light, need to run descaling solution through the machine (follow instructions, you can download a manual on saeco's website) this light can be turned off by pressing and holding the steam button for 5 seconds.

SOURCE: how do I descale the saeco magic deluxe coffee machine?

Hi,

Try this:

Standard descaling
Switch off the machine.
Pour a descaling product into the water tank.
Switch the machine on to the programming mode(see below). Place a large container under the steam/hot water dispensing tube and open the steam/hot water knob slowly, turning it counterclockwise.
Turn on the machine by pressing the main switch and let the descaling product flow out of the dispensing tube for approx. 1 min.
Close the knob again.
Turn off the machine with the main switch and let the solution take effect for approx. 5 minutes.
Repeat this procedure two or three times, to allow all of the descaling product in the water tank to flow out of the dispensing tube.
As soon as descaling has been carried out, rinse the tank thoroughly and fill it with fresh water.
Switch on the machine and let fresh water (approx. 2 l) flow out of the steam/hot water dispensing tube in order to rinse away residue.
The machine is now ready for operation.

When the machine is on, the warning light switches off automatically, by pressing the steam selection button for at least 5 seconds.

To enter the programming mode, turn the machine
off with the main switch.
Press steam , espresso coffee and the
main switch at the same time.

Release the buttons.

Hope this will help you.

Steady Brew Group Light: Old Saeco Magic deluxe

Open the door on the right. The brew unit is the thing with the handle that has the push on it. You need to push on the upper left side of the brew unit until it clicks. There is an outlet spout on the opposite side of where you are pushing. It goes into an intake port that needs to be lubed, so the outlet spout will slide in without pushing back. That should take care of the missing brew unit.

Water pump in Saeco Magic Deluxe

If you haven't cleaned the brew group, or decalcified the unit I would start there. This is something I do every 4 to 6 months (or anytime I notice the flow of coffee to start to slow down). This normally restores the flow to the original flow level. If you have already done these things you may want to give Saeco support a call and see what they suggest. They are extremely helpful, although very difficult to get on the phone as the phone system they use is horrible and hangs up after you hold more than a certain amount of time.

Temperature control on Saeco magic deluxe

No it cannot. I am not sure why you would want the water hotter. It is designed to be at the perect temperature for passing through the brew group for coffee brewing, its kind of a simple science.
If your machine has been producing less hot coffee gradually, that marks an issue. Try descaling the boiler per the manufacturer's inscrutions even if the warning light isnt on. The other option is that the thermal fuse mounted to the boiler is bad and turns off the boiler prematurely, those cost about $15 and are simple to replace. Lastly, the boiler heating element may be 'burnt out' new boiler is $120+

There is a lever inside the door on the right. It is at the top in the center. Pull it back one click and try again. The crunching noise does it sound like a clicking noise?

Saeco Magic Deluxe flashing water light, & not draining

The pump could be out or it could just need primed. Saeco sells a cheap hand pump that you insert into the receiver and force water into the system while the pump is pumping. This will often prime the pump and get things going. Call 1 800 933 7876 and tell one of the customer service reps you need a priming pump.
