Heat elements in oven/broiler do not heat up

I have a Frigidaire oven model PLEF398DCA ..the stove top and all controls seem to work properly but oven/broiler does not heat. I removed back panel of oven and tested for power ..When tested to ground I get 120v at 4 posts ..upper and lower filaments when either oven or broiler is turned on.....Do you know if this is correct voltage or what could be done to fix problem Thanks

I would say to go and reset your curciut breaker first if this is a electric oven. needs 220 volts for both element to work

You need to check straight across you should have 220-240V

  • erica graber Jan 05, 2009

well there is something wrong with your electrical horizontal you should have 220-240 if not you need an electrician

  • erica graber Jan 05, 2009

vertical shouold be zero because that is the nuetral and ground you are testing. now if you where to go from one vertical to horizontal should read 120 and if you do the other side should read 120. but to run the oven you need 220-240 if you do not have this straight across horizontal from the wall there is a problem with your house wireing

  • erica graber Jan 07, 2009

you should have 240 across the heating element. Please be supper careful. If you do then you have a bad element but if you do not you probabley have a bad controller. Ok so straight accros the terminal block at the range i belive from red to black you should have 240v you are saying you have that? right?

Frigidaire double convection wall ovens, model GLEB30T9DSA ... The top oven will not heat, both the bottom element and the broiler.....

I have the Frigidaire PLEB30S8CCA single wall oven. About 3 months ago the baking element appeared to have gone out. We replaced it, but still didn't work. We ended up sending our control board off to a company named Corecentric. They fixed the problem and returned it to us. The oven has worked perfectly ever since. I searched extensively for a new one, but no one sold them anymore. I found Corecentric on Ebay. They were able to confirm over the phone that it was more than likely a control board issue. It cost about $130. My husband was able to do it himself by taking a couple before px and using them when reassembling it.

Frigidaire oven won't heat past 355

Contact a professional to have the unit diagnosed for repairs. Sounds like the heating elements are either faulty or the main control board won't allow the unit to heat up correctly.

Hotpoint oven won't heat above 250 degrees broiler works fine as well as the stove top

either its the oven sensor rod located at the top of the ovens cavity,or your bake element could be getting a hot spot which is when it gets a discolored spot in the element and can no longer pass sufficient current to heat the oven past 250 degrees

Oven dosen't heat up.

Usually the problem is the heating element. This is easy to check and usually inexpensive. There is a video at http://appliancehelponline.com/ovenelementvideo.html that will walk you thru testing and replacing. It may be a different model but the testing and replacement will be the same. You can also enter your model # for diagrams and illustrations of your specific model. All parts come with installation instructions. Not all models are available.

WHY WON'T MY OVEN HEAT UP?

Most modern gas ovens and many broilers use a "glow-bar" style of igniter that glows red-hot to ignite the gas. If the igniter doesn't reach the proper temperature, the gas valve won't open. You may need to replace the igniter.
