SOURCE: clock display board

Replacing capacitor C3 on the clock board will correct the dimming problem. I will cost you about $2 for the part. Replacing the board does the same thing just with a higher price tag. Unfortunately, tt sounds like you may have a bad "new" board if this problem happened as soon as you put it in.

When I had the dim display problem with mine, the oven still heated up, chimed at temp, etc -- you just couldn't see the numbers. My wife didn't like it, so I fixed it. If your old board works like mine did even though the display is dark, you could try replacing the noted capacitor and see what happens.

I hope this helps.

SOURCE: My Kenmore range model C970-628091 keeps beeping and flashing an F1 or F3 error code

Fridgetech is right. It's the temperature sensor. I had the same problem, but I was getting the F3 and F2 errors when attempting to preheat the oven.
A R Marshall said that he replaced the sensor but he still got the same F3 error. That happened to me too! It worked for a few weeks, then it began to malfunction again. It finally started showing preheated as soon as the oven was turned on, but never heated at all. One night at 3AM, the error code and beeper went off while we were sleeping! That happened on several occasions at various times of day, and it was necessary to kill the power to stop it. The power could then be restored and the error would stop.
Ours is a Hotpoint range (made by GE). It's my understanding that most ranges have the same or similar error codes.
The sensor was $85.00 at the parts store, but I got it on line for about $60.00 including shipping. The instructions said to strip the wires and then twist them together with wire nuts. But the new sensor had a plug that fit so I used it, and it worked for a short while.
As I looked through the problems and possible solutions, someone said look for burnt wires. So I opened it up and looked but there was nothing like that. Then I remembered the instructions that said to hard wire, so I examined the plug which seemed to have one short wire inside. I plugged it back in and tested with the same negative results. Now suspecting the plug I cut off both sides, stripped the wires and hard wired using two small wire nuts. It immediatly began working normally!
Something is wrong with the plug connector.
Try cutting out the plug and hard wiring before ordering a new part. But if you need a new part, eliminate the plug!
May God bless you and keep you safe!

SOURCE: Oven's bake funktion does not work

Hi,You need to replace the oven igniter. You will find that this is a very common problem with that model and other models that use this igniter. It is very simple to do.
Look inside the oven and you will find 2 screws at the bottom of the oven in the back. Loosen them up and remove the bottom panel of the oven.
Remove the broiler, and oven trays and it is a 10 minute swap out. Removing the above items allows you the access needed to get to the two screws that mount the oven igniter to the burner.
Using either a socket (1/4") or a nut driver, remove the 2 screws and unplug the igniter. The most difficult part of the exchange is unplugging the igniter. The plastic will most likely break because it has become very brittle by being exposed to the heat. Be careful to break only the part that is being replaced.
If you do happen to break the fittings, they can be replaced with any male/female connector. If you need to replace this, I recommend that you stay away from plastic encased plugs.
You then install the ingiter, plug it in, and you are back in business. It is a very simple part to replace, but it is costly.
Thanks and take care

Hi, the F2 error code means that the oven is overheating for an unknown reason. F3 and F4 indicate a problem with the oven sensor, which usually requires replacing the sensor.

I sthere a way to calibrate my oven temperature? It is off by about 35 degrees. Temperature is lower than display.

Sorry to read about your problem, I hope this helps you out.

To Adjust the Oven Temperature (do not use Bake or Broil while adjusting the oven temperature): note: Your oven control was factory set in the (Fahrenheit) °F Temperature Display Mode. To change for (Celsius) °C, see page 15.
1. Press & hold the BAKE key pad and release after the display shows the factory temperature setting of 00. note: If the oven temperature has been previously adjusted from the factory setting, the current temperature adjusted value will appear in the display instead.
2. You may increase the oven temperature in 5°F (1°C) increments with each press of the uP arroW pad to a maximum oven adjustment of +35°F (+18°C). You may also adjust the oven temperature downward in 5°F (1°C) increments with each press of the doWn arroW pad (total range of -35°F to +35°F (-18°C to +18°C).
3. If you do not want to keep the display adjustment, press the clear oFF pad before the oven control beeps. This will cancel the temperature adjustment procedure. To start this procedure over again begin with step 1 above OR;
4. If you want to keep the adjustment, wait until the oven control beeps once.
5. The oven temperature adjustment has be accepted by the oven control and the display will return to the time of day.

Constant beeping and F7 is displayed

Hi tahitian,

The error code F7 means that the Function key is shorted or stuck. To fix this error, replace touch pad or if touch pad is part of the clock, replace the clock (ERC).

Hope it helps.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Bake button doesn't work even after ignitor replaced

While unlikely, the ignitor in theory could have damaged the ERC (main oven control) it is more likely you have a bad keypad. Try pressing and holding bake and broil pads at the same time for 5 seconds and see if the display shows SF (will look like 5F). If it does, press the start button and try again bake again

That error means the main control board has a internal failure. The board will have to replaced to fix that issue. If you need detailed repair help with that visit the link below:

Hello sfgelectric,
Welcome,

You said, your broiler and oven won't work. That you set bake and it beeps and the bake light flashes but oven wont light.

Does the display flash any error codes, or just the bake light?

Fault codes
1. BAKE or LOCK may flash rapidly in the display to alert you if there is an error
or a problem. If BAKE or LOCK appear in the display, press the CANCEL pad.
2.If BAKE or LOCK continue to flash, disconnect power to the appliance.
3.Wait a few minutes, and then reconnect power. If the flashing still continues,
disconnect power to the appliance and call an authorized servicer.
4.If the oven is heavily soiled, excessive flareups may result in a fault code during
cleaning. Press the CANCEL pad and allow the oven to cool completely, wipe out
excess soil, then reset

For most concerns, try these first.
Check if oven controls have been properly set.
Check to be sure plug is securely inserted into receptacle.
Check or re-set circuit breaker. Check or replace fuse.
Check power supply

I'll check the repair manual to see what I can find.
Let me know how it goes.
Perhaps this will fix a glitch.
Huuum

Tried the stop timer button and same thing. When I turn on either the bake or convection bake button it automatically just shuts off by itself. It is approx 10-13 years old. Error code F1

Error code F1 is for a defective touch pad or membrane (usually the touch pad). In this case you will need replace touch pad or membrane. It seems that water entered the touch pad during the self cleaning process, remove the touch pad and try to dry it. Good luck !!
