2nd row removable seat is stuck with only the rear latches attached. The front is not attached and now cannot release the rear latches, or get the front attached. Normally the front gets attached first, but I hooked the rear 1st by mistake.
Got it, with the help and eyes of my wife. The rear latch releases as the seat back is lowered. This release is ALMOST seat back down (about 3 inches above the seat bottom). As the seat back lowers, apply constant lift on the rear latch, and it will release as the seat back lowers. Hard-won knowledge - I think I invented some bad words in the process.
I used a broom. Get in the back row and jam the broom handle under the 2nd row seat. Apply upward leverage and then fold the back rest of the 2nd row seat forwards. This worked first shot for me.
Thanks! This worked like a charm! Me being the idiot I am was trying for an hour to an hour and a half to try and figure out how to get that stupid seat to release. Then it hit me to search the internet. Got a rake, grabbed my wife to release the seat as I pushed up on it, and it release perfectly the first time. Thanks again!
My third row seat was stuck with the seat front hooks attached to the rear set of floor attachment bars (whatever those are called). I couldn't figure out how to unhook the darn thing, and for MONTHS that seat would thunk and thud back and forth every time I drove. Found this solution and had the problem fixed in about 2 seconds. THANK YOU!!!
Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! After fighting seat for a week I used this method and got seat replaced in 2 minutes.
THANK YOU.
Got a 2nd hand Carnival, very low km but also very dirty.
3 seats out of 5 would not get out. With Gweeeep method they were out in seconds.
I couldn't get the middle seats out of our 2010 sedona and came in to google what to do. Found this site and used a wooden garden tool handle under the seat as I pulled the release strap. It was hard to apply enough leverage but it worked! Thanks!

Tikono's solution worked beautifully. I got behind tghe seat, raised the back into normal position, then I pulled up on the botttom of the seat and pulled the lever. As the seat back folded the latch unhooked, I got the seat back into place. Thanks
Thanks guys! I could have saved myself an awful lot of time if I searched the web first. The rake trick worked for me. I sat in the back row, jammed the rake handle under the seat and pulled the release strap in the back. I didn't lower the seat down slowly, it collapsed as soon as I pulled the strap but with the rake pressure, it popped right out. Overjoyed and now contemplating washing my own mouth out with soup for my earlier struggles.
We bought a used 2011 KIA Sedona and the second row seat would not come out. Tried this trick and it worked like a charm!!!! Very happy to find this on the web!
Have to say it. Thank god for the internet. My story could be any one of these. I modified the fix to use an Axe handle, then thought of the engineer who designed it.
Tikono's solution worked like a charm, thanks tikono.
If the broom handle trick doesn't work, find where the wire goes to pull the latch that releases the back of the chair, i used a screwdriver to flick up the latch because the wire function was not working on one of our chairs. To find where this latch is just take out one of the chairs that is working and have a look underneath there should be a pin that the wire is attached to that just needs to be lifted up to release, do the same on both rear sides. ... All to easy mate.
Same problem...no solution. Let me know if you figured it out!

OMG!! Thank you so much and I am glad for the Internet!! Woohooo!!
BUH BAM! That's the trick! While the seat is lowered the latch will release. BRILLIANT!
Kia Carnival 2007, 3rd row seat jammed but this method was correct! Jiggle pull strap whilst lowering seat back :-)
