http://boardsus.playstation.com/playstat... That website has a great guide on how to setup your ps3 for internet connection. This is what you need to hook up to the net for your PS3 1.You need a MODEM which is the "box thing" that connects to your pc. 1. You need a ROUTER which connects to your MODEM and in to your PC. The router allows for both the PC and the PS3 to use the internet at teh same time. Unplug the wire that goes into your PC and plug into your ROUTER so that the modem is connected to the router not the PC 3. You need to connect your PS3 to the router with an ethernet cable and your PC to the router with an ethernet cable 4. Go to that web site and follow the instruction on how to set up and account on your PS3 and get going online and have fun!! Good luck!
You can either hook up your PS3 through hard wire using an ethernet cable plugged into your PS3 and your modem or wireless since the PS3 has a built in wi - fi adapter for the wireless network in range.
you can set your playstation 3 online by two ways, 1- by a wired connection, and 2- Wireless,
1-Wired Connection: Plug an ethernet cable from your highspeed modem to the back ethernet input on your ps3 system, and follow on your ps3: Network Connection > Internet Connection Settings > Easy > Wired Connection. and follow steps
2- Wireless Connection: You must have a Router connecting ethernet cable from your intenet modem to the router, and follow on your ps3: Network Connection > Internet Connection Settings > Easy > Wireless Connection and follow steps,
hope this helped you on setting up your ps3 connection :)
You'll need a CAT-5 (or CAT-6) ethernet wire plugged into the ethernet port on the back of your PS3 with the other end plugged into one of the ethernet ports on your router (assuming your router has multiple ethernet ports). These ports will usually be labeled 1,2,3.. etc. Do not connect to the LAN or WAN ports on the router. If your router only has one port, you'll need to get an inexpensive ethernet switch to connect to the LAN port of the router and all of your computers, PS3 and other ethernet peripherals to the switch.
hello have you tryed another ethernet cable also turn the power off at the router take the lead out at the back of the router there should be reset button hold this in for 15 seconds re plug in everythink in hopeful it should work good luck
??? A router will NOT replace your modem; the router won't work without the modem. If you're going to give advice, please make sure it is somewhat correct.
Okay. So first you need the telephone cord to go from the phone jack into the DSL port on your modem. Then you need the Ethernet cable that came with your modem (looks like a phone cord but much bigger) to go from the ethernet port in the back of the modem into the wan or internet port on the router. Verify that the DSL and internet lights are on on the modem.
For the rest of the setup, watch this . It will walk you step by step in connecting your PS3 to the wireless internet. Thanks and please take a moment to rate as fixya.
Hi, best way to connect the PS3 is to buy a router, wireless or wired router. and if you go for a wired one, connect the ethernet cable (RJ45) from the PS3 to the Router,
Other option is plug ethernet cable into PS3 & other end into the Network card which will be built into the base unit, otherwise you can buy a ethernet card which should cost you about £10.
but you will need the PC switch on, whenever you want to use the PS3, as well as you will have to configure the network setting to get it working,,
It depends... If you use a router for the Internet then you don't need any cable, just turn on the router and then go to the PS3 and configure the PS3 to work with the router. If you have wired internet, then you will need an Ethernet cable, but since the PS3 comes with an Ethernet cable, you don't need to buy one. With the Ethernet cable, you have 2 options. If your modem has an Ethernet port, then just connect the PS3 to the modem directly. If the modem doesn't have an Ethernet port or direct connection won't work, then you can use Internet Connection Sharing to connect your PS3 to the Internet.
