I'm having the same problem. "sunbelt update installer task", the default pattern files were not installed. - I've uninstalled it and reinstalled it twice and i'm still getting the same problem. I've check or looked for this problem issue and found no place to go to fix this issue. What should I do NOW?

This is affecting my pc as well. Avanquest told me to run "easy update/product update".These run when I reinstall the entire package but each time I get "The default pattern files were not installed" and the pc more or les grinds to a halt because SBAmsvc.exeruns in the background at about 100% cpu (looking on Windows task manager).

    Any Help out there?

I have this window that keeps popping up ''sonic Update Manager''. They want me to put in a cd that has the file um.msi in it. This was a download so I do not have a disk. I continually ''end Task'' in the...

Follow this procedure and your problem will be resolved. Do exactly i say..!

Step 1:- First Downlaod the windows Clean up utility.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301

Click on the link above --> and then Under Summary Option on this page.

Click on the link mention below:-
( Download the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility package now. )

Install the windows clean up utility on the computer.

Once it is installed Hit the finish button.

Now Click on start-->go to All programs-->navigate
Microsoft windows Clean up utility software.--> click on it and runn it.

Once the Clean up utility window opens up.

Find out sonic Update Manager in the list you see.

Click on it and highlight it .

Now click on the button remove at the botton of that screen.

Once it is gone. Restart the computer your system will not pop up that message again.

( Reason :- The reason why you are getting that message is that the sonic Update Manager software is not installed properly on your system which is why it keeps poping up the MSI ( microsoft Installer ) on your screen for sonic Update Manager. )

So to get rid of it just remove the MSI from the list in windows clean up utility and it will not pop up again.

Let me know if it works for you.

Please do follow the instructions as provided. It will work.

How do i do a factory restore

If you have the original disks, just put in the disk #1 and it will walk you through it... If not.....
You will need to have an operating system handy such as windows xp or win 7.
You would
1. Format the drive to wipe it of all information
2. Load the operating system
3. load any drivers or specialty drivers for the sound, video, usb, lan, camera, and other periferials
4. download and update the operating systems of all of the security updates and update the antivirus definitions
5. download and install all of the add on utilities that are needed in todays world such as Firefox and Chrome browsers, Adobe flash, Winzip, Winrar, Quicktime, Realplayer, Divx video player and ac3 sound filter and many other utilities
6. Have fun.
So, how do you format a drive?
1. Reboot the system and hold down the F8 key as it boots.
2. A menu will appear. Choose 'start safemode with command prompt"
3. when the C: command prompt appears type FORMAT C:
4. The system will warn that all will be lost, type Y for yes and follow the prompts.
6. after it is done (about 30 min) put the Operating system CD in the drive.
7. Reboot the system with the disk in the drive.
8 follow the prompts and finish installing the utilities, updates, and utilities listed above
9. have fun

Roxio Media Manager continues to try to install

Hello,

After reading your problem I came across some interesting references about roxio and agent.exe.
Seems agent.exe is used by many programs to update themselves over the internet, and it was giving a lot of people headaches by using 70% or more of their CPU, like yourself.

So, I wanted to send you a few quick thoughts on how to hopefully fix your situation.

First, there were complaints about stuff trying to install itself on and on, and it was because there were command lines in the STARTUP MENU calling upon them to install every time windows starts.

So to try to fix this if its happening in your case........
Go to start>run>and type in msconfig and click ok.
Now click startup and uncheck these items.

issch
ISUSPM
'ISUSPM Start Up'
'ISUSSCheduler'
Adobe Reader Speed Launcher
Quick Time Task
Igfxtray
HotKeysCmds
MSMSGS
WMPNFCSG
COMMUNICATOR
PERSISTENCE (igfxpers)
DLA

Then click apply, then ok and restart your computer.
When windows starts, you will see a window saying that changes were made to the configuration utility. When you see it, click on the little white box saying not to show this any more.
And if you really miss not having something you unchecked, you can always go back there and recheck it!

Maybe now you will have the chance to purge all things Roxio from your system.
Best of luck!!

Cannot use reader 8.0,cannot remove it or install 9.0

oddly enough, you may find that updating the version 8.0 you have to 8.x will then allow you to remove it (or it will work correctly) can you open the reader manually in the programs list? if so open it, then go to help and check for updates. apply the updates. If they work you should be in good shape.
