Older copy of alohabob will not update and will not work with pre
I bought a copy of Alohabob PC Relocator with URL cable several years ago at a local retailer but put it on the shelf when the deal for a new PC fell thru. I just opened it and tried to use it on my new laptop.
1) the old software tried to contact an update site which seems to no longer be in operation.
2) Abob will not transfer programs to my new computer becuase the newer versions of the web software on my machines (I have XP Professional SP 3).
The disc I have is labeled copyright 2003 and the registration card shows the web sites: www.alohabob.com and www.eisenworld.com.
Were it not for old reliable GOOGLE, I never would have found you guys.
So. . . what next?
OH, How about a serial number?
Re: Older copy of alohabob will not update and will not...
Unfortunately, AFAIK, Microsoft first bought the company then moved its WETC (Windows Easy Transfer Companion) off from its Beta. I am afraid your version now is just too old to be effective even if you will circumvent updates problem
Or you can try a free beta of PickMeApp - a tool for programs transfer. In combination with Windows File &Settings Transfer Wizard it can be used for a move to new PC, though it works best with individual programs.

Some software is written that you can only install it once, twice, etc. The manufacturer of your software obviously has limited the number to one. Over the years software companies have tried to prevent people from pirating their software and selling and/or installing it on multiple computers. Contact the manufacturer and tell them that your old computer crashed, so you bought a new one and want to install it on the new computer and if they're worth anything they will give you a new license key for free. I hope this helps and good luck!
Microsoft bought Eisenworld. Both the Eisenworld and Alohabob web sites have been shut down. You will NOT be able to update it. AlohaBob will be incorporated into the Vista update.
Try updating all your UBS drivers:
Go to your "Device Manager" (Right click on ‘My Computer', select 'Properties', click the 'Hardware' tab, click the 'Device Manager' button. Click the "Universal Serial Bus controllers").
If there is some kind of a yellow "Warning" icon superimposed on the 'UBS' icon there is your problem! If no "Warning" icons then try... One at a time... Double click on each of the devices that have 'UBS' in the listings. Click the "Properties" tab; look for any "Warning" icons Uninstall the DRIVERS for THAT DEVICE only. See instructions below. Click on the faulty driver and hit the remove button, follow the instructions given by the program. Shutdown, restart, the device will automatically reinstall by the "Found New Hardware" program.
Go back in to Device Manager and Update all the Items listed under "Universal Serial Bus controllers"
Eisenworld AlohaBob PC Relocator is generally not available now, you MAY be able to buy it in stores, but you will NOT be able to update it. Microsoft bought Eisenworld. Both the Eisenworld and AlohaBob web sites have been shut down. AlohaBob will be incorporated into the Vista update. This is the Company that made you product but I am unsure where they are. Look at this insert from Microsoft.
