    I have a similar problem.

I plugged my scandisk u3 micro 8gb into what i think was a usb 1.0 port then into a usb 2.0 port and now my scandisk is no longer recognized.

I have no idea why that would make a difference.

I also have a mp3 player 30gb that did the same thing about 2 yrs ago, when it was plugged into a old computer then into a new computer.

Both of them with the same thing -- Device not recognized or malfunctioned.

This could be two problems. 1. Using another USB device[anything] establish the USB port on the computer[s] are functioning or not. If not check the BIOS- Restart computer[s] press delete whilst booting -to get the bios screen up - cycle through to USB devices make sure they are ticked to enable. Having satisfied this problem. 2. Go to www.pcinsptector and down load and install the program[www.konvar.com] With the drive in a slot the recognises it try the recovery technique. As a final word allways back up vauluable data have in several version around the place , on external HDD or CD's Anything can fail at any time in this electronic world.

This drive is nice - but Titanium is a BAD idea as the drive is extremely succeptable to static zaps. I inadvertently zapped mine on a couple different occassions when inserting it in my notebook computer. One final zap rendered the drive useless. If you are in the habit of crushing your thumb drives, this is a great drive. If you use this drive anywhere that there is the potential for static discharges the Sandisk Cruzer Titanium is not the best choice.

My sandisk cruzer 4 GB pendrive ws working fine but now whenever i try to format\copy\cut it shows location 0 with used space 0 free space 0 what should i do

Your flashdrive usually shows 2 drives when inserted to your computer, one is the U3 drive and the other one is the removable disk drives. U3 drive is your separate partition for the U3 system and in order for you to store, copy, format your flashdrive, you should be selecting the removable disk drive, not the U3 drive. U3 is a read only memory drive that is responsible for your U3 to work (just like portable applications). Hope this helps.

SanDisk Cruzer Micro 4GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive My Drive is Empty How Do I Get U3Smart The Drive To Factory Settings. My Model is SDCZ6-4096A10 SN# BH0701l5B

According to Scandisk:

As of October 1st 2009, SanDisk started shipping the Cruzer Micro (SDCZ6-XXX) product line without the U3 software pre-installed on the device.

During the transition period, there may have been a small number of devices that were packaged in older packaging that states the device includes the U3 software. If you purchased one of these devices and would like to use the U3 software, please download and install it.

We can fix it -- and recover the data (provided it is recoverable -- which it generally is). If we don't get your data back, we ship the drive back to you and you pay nothing. We've been recovering data for over 16 years and are successful about 85% of the time.

Is the account that your tying to access the drive with an Administrator account? If not, Log in as Administrator and try to access the new drive. If you ARE using Administrator privileges on the vista machine, the problem lies in the U3 smart driver. Try downloading and installing the drivers for the XP SP2 os on scan disks website, If vista rejects the install package off of the scan disk website, let me know and i'll extract the drivers and build an install for them for you.
