Question about Toshiba RS-TX20

1 Answer

Does Toshiba TiVo RS-TX20 accept the digital in February?

Will this work with digital signal to come? I hear that if one gets a converter box, it can only record whatever channel it is set for. Must I get an entirely new setup to record freely as before? And are there any TiVos with DVD recorders that will operate with the new signal coming out (what and where would I get?)

Hello,
Any DTV Converter Box.
You Need a IR cable to control the DTV Box from the Tivo.
Repeat Guided Setup and select the correct DTV Box on the setup.

No video from an Apex digital converter box to TIVO

You may have to set the channel 3/4 switch on the lower right rear of your TiVo to match the output setting of your Apex converter. If your Apex converter is equipped for L/R audio and video output you will get better results using a three-conductor cable to connect to your TiVo.

How can i watch tivo on my computer monitor

Hello,

Sorry to say but no, your monitor only has VGA which is an analog signal and HDMI is a digital signal. A cable will not convert between the two. There are digital to analog converters available but they run more than a new monitor. You can use any monitor that has a DVI port with an adapter cable because the DVI port is digital just like the HDMI port so a cable can convert the plug between the two and the signal will then be the same.

I have a Toshiba RS-TX20 TiVo that suddenly stopped reading and writing DVDs or CDs.

hello,
you can solve this by opening the back cover of the DVD player.
first clean the lens with a dry cotton bud to clean the lens , you have to do this with care because the lens is fragile.
secondly, power on the player and check if the lens beam up a red light, if it does not the problem could be from the ribbon cable use to connect the lens to the printed circuit board or the lens may be faulty, replace to confirm the faulty one.
take care...

Have a Cable Co. HD box or Outside antenna with a converter box, or Satellite all using Component Output to projector component input.

System constantly re-booting

While this post is very late to answer this question, here is where I found a solution with the DVD still inside. When I used this solution, the whole system reset and worked.

http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/archive/index.php/t-277275.html

"I had the exact same problem tonight. I put in a DVD and it locked my Toshiba RS-TX20 up. It simply wouldn't respond to anything but unplugging. Then it went into this infinite loop of trying to power up.

I finally got it to boot:

Hold the eject button on the unit continuously while it boots up (be patient!). It didn't open the tray until a couple minutes into the powering up process. After I took out the disc, it booted up normally at the next try.

I am guessing that there's a very small window during the booting process that the dvd drive isn't locked and you have to push the eject button in that small window to get the tray open. Since we don't know when the drive is unlocked, the best bet is to hold down the eject button continuously.

I hope this helps!"
