Question about Toshiba Computers & Internet
Tryed to ply dvd but nothing happens its not reading and device maneger says code 37
Make sure it has power (ejects). Check Device Manager in Safe Mode by pressing F8 during boot. Right click My Computer > Manage. Select Device Manager > View > Show Hidden Devices. Now delete all DVD/CD-ROMs and reboot. Windows will say "New Hardware Found" and install.

I had similar problems with my HP computer and i found either uninstall it through device manager the reinstalling it through new hardware wizaed in control panel. Or if that doesnt work try opening your laptop up and unplugging/removing the drive itself and restarting the laptop then turn it off again and put the drive back in the computer should then register it as a new device and reinstall it. that second option worked for my drive so it should hopefully work for yours

SOURCE: CD/DVD rom drive not working
It sounds like the drivers could be bad or the lens has gone.
This can be a common problem with vista loosing the CD/DVD drives.
Do this >>>>>> right click on "computer" and select "manage" from the sub menu, then select "device manager" from the left hand side, it will generate a list of devices, look down the list for CD/DVD and click on the + icon next to it, from the drop down list right click and uninstall, restart the PC and let vista re-install the drivers for you, then try to use the CD/DVD.
If this does not work please post back.
Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!

Step 1: Start Registry Editor:
Start->Run->type regedit and click OK.
Step 2: Delete the UpperFilters registry entry:
Note You may also see an UpperFilters.bak registry entry. You do not have to remove that entry. Click UpperFilters only.
Note You might see a LowerFilters.bak registry entry. You do not have to remove that entry. Click LowerFilters only.
If you do not see the LowerFilters registry entry, unfortunately this content is unable to help you any more.
