More then likely you just knocked the cable loose to the harddrive. Open the case, unplug the cable and re-push it in on both ends, the drive and motherboard. See if that helps. I would say look into MBR but the fact the screen says it right there.
"Media Test Failed, Check cable."

This is VERY easy to do, dont be afraid to open that bad boy up!

Yep, your operating system has crashed, not your hard drive, but the windows on the hard drive..

simply boot from your windows cd / dvd and choose upgrade as the instillation type or leave current file systems intact so as you install windows over again, you dont loose your previous data..

SOURCE: Computer wont start up...

Insert your Windows, or Linux disc and attempt to boot/repair install windows. Your POST/BIOS is not detecting your Operating System (windows more than likely). That being the case you may need to reinstall or repair install the OS. Did you or a member of your family format the hard drive? What were the circumstances under which this occurred? Either way using your Windows disc should allow you to move forward. If you didn't get a windows disc with your PC you should have gotten a "restore" disc this will (when run properly by follwing prompts) reset the computer back to factory settings. If you suspect that you have valuable data on your PC you will want to take measures to recover that data first before "restoring".

SOURCE: sony vaio operating system not found when computer

You can try running the installation/recovery disc that came with the computer or the built-in recovery system (if it has one) to try and repair the windows installation. The problem is if the computer is saying that the operating system is not found then critical files got deleted from something like a virus or the hard disc drive has stopped working. You may have to do a format and re-install of the windows OS.

Operating system not found

hi goodner,

getting the error "operating system not found" means that the hard drive where the Operating System is installed (i.e. Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7), Cannot be found by you BIOS upon the boot sequence.

When you turn the PC/Laptop, you normal see a screen that flashes flashes with screen that displays the ff:

Primary Master:
Primary Slave:
Secondary Master:
Secondary Slave:

The Primary master should have a value right next to it. If not, either the hard drive is faulty and needs replacement, cable is loose,

If you have a value to it and stil gets the same error the operating is corrupted and needs to be re-installed.

I am at work in a hospital. Our IT people are not here at night. I can not get my Dell keyboard to respond. When I touch any key, it makes a soft beeping nose, but nothing happens. I think I accidentally...

First of all make sure that the Number lock or fuction lock are not on. Press one of these keys and see what happens.

Secondly if the keyboard is part of a desktop unit, disconnect the keyboard. Restart your computer and reconnect the keyboard after the system boots. Allow your operating system to recognize and reinstall the keyboard.

Good luck and please post back if you need anymore assistance.

My E-Machines desktop just stopped working. A few weeks ago, my user was corrupted so I had to do a system restore to get to my data on hard drive. Did that and backed up to external drive and it worked...

that beep means POST.. your computer hardware is fine .. please just re install the operating systemm... before that you might want to back up the hard drive data using bartpe or some tools similar to that.. if you dont have that expertise. just re install the operating system .. you should get back to work...

remember beep meaning POST meaning your hardware is fine.. the operating system is just corrupted / broekn

Computer turns on and beeps

Have you recently changed any hardware or BIOS settings? Is it one beep for 8 seconds or 8 beeps? If it's 8 beeps then that indicates a bad video card. If you are not using the on board video then try re-seating the video board or try a different video board.

The beeps are probably BIOS beep error codes. Through a series of long and short beeps the computer communicates computer problems that occur early in the startup processes. It's likely the problem isn't your monitor but something in your computer box itself. If you can tell us what the pattern is we can start diagnosing your problem. We'll also need to know the manufacturers name, the specific model computer you have and what operating system you are running.
