Check the flue, and supply vents and return air filter, obstruction of air is why unless you have a cracked exchanger.

SOURCE: electric space heater contactor won't stay latched

Jumpered the bimetal thermostat and everything worked smoothly. Tried to clean contacts in thermostat with no luck, so ordered a replacement. At least it was cheaper than the contactor.

SOURCE: williams debonair wall heater + pilot light problems

THE flame from the pilot should shoot past the thermo-couple and heat this up and make a small amount of mili- amps to prove the pilot light is lit. ..So if the flame doesn,t go past the thermo-couple it won, make mili-amps or its tme to change out the thermo-couple, They only cost lest than $8:00 and you can change it!

The blower is heat activated, it takes more than the pilot. If the burners are on, verify power to the unit.

SOURCE: High Pitched noise coming from Williams Wall Heater

open it up and you'll see it while its running sounds like fan bearings or fan misalignment may need a new fan motor. if you replace the fan though make sure all power is off before disconnecting

The heater keeps cycling off on the High limit safety.

A couple of months ago, my heater kept cycling off as well. I had a mechanic come do some repair work on it. He said that I had damaged it by constantly keeping it on the 'on' switch, instead of the 'auto' switch. How often do you try to keep your heater running? Maybe if you turn it to 'auto', then it would work better. Heating and Hot Air Furnaces Cooling Heating Gillette NJ

How do you get to the thermocoupling unit to replace it? It appears to go into the heat exchange which is all enclosed. It is a Williams wall furnace. It is an older unit in a rent house.

If you have your manual go to pages 9 & 10 what I call a thermocouple they call a generator, and this is in the gas train with the main gas valve. you may be going after the high limit switch here please do not tear in to that. This will be right in with the pilot assembly and the copper line goes back in to the gas valve.

HAYWARD POOL HEATER FIRES FOR 5 MIN. THEN GOES OUT

Sounds like it is cycling on high limit; causes are related to water flow through the heat exchanger or a faulty high limit(doubtful given the heater cycles back on). Check the internal bypass for obstructions; has anyone worked on it recently? There are usually two high limit switches with different trip temperatures; installing the wrong one could also be the culprit. Does the heater "bang" before it goes off (a sign that the water is boiling inside the tube bundle)?

Williams wall furnace no longer adequately heats home

A couple thoughts. On some of the wall furnace gas valves there's a knob that you can set for low fire or high fire. If your valve has this make sure it is in the high fire setting. Is the wall furnace controlled by a wall thermostat or a knob on the heater? With the thermostat turned all the way up like to 90, does the burner and fan continue to run or is the burner short cycling. Is the fan clean and running up to speed. Some of the Williams wall furnace had a two speed fan motor so when the fan came on at first it would run on low speed. As the heat exchanger got hotter the internal fan switch would switch it to high speed. Outside of that you would need a monometer to check the manifold gas pressure.

I am working on an older Williams gas wall heater. Pilot lights, heater comes on- after 1 hour cycles off, kills pilot light. one year ago installed new gas regtulator. DJWilson djwilson10@juno.com

You have some limit switches located around the unit one high one or two around the middle one of them is opening and not closing. You need to take off the cover and locate the limits undo the wires and ohm them out you should have complete circuit now the one that is open when you find it is bad and needs to be replaced with the same rated heat temperature as original. Your t-stat goes through these limits and one open would kill the whole circuit. Let me know how it goes. ken

Williams Model 435FXR Serial GO222436 Forced air pilot keeps going out

BY THERMISTOR, ARE YOU MEANING THERMOCOUPLE, I.E. WHAT YOUR PILOT LIGHT IS HEATING? IF SO, COULD BE WEAK AND NOT GENERATING ENOUGH VOLTAGE TO STAY OPEN, SHOULD BE BETWEEN 10-25 MILLIVOLTS DC, WHICH CAN BE TESTED AT THE INTERRUPTER LEADS. YOU CAN ALSO BYPASS THE LIMIT DISC TEMPORARILY TO SEE IF THE UNIT STAYS LIT, REPLACE IT IF THE UNIT RUNS.
