Can't get my presser foot to fall down when I let go of the lifter on my Pfaff 6085 sewing machine

Sounds as if the spring for the presser bar is broken OR the presser bar is dirty and needs cleaned and oiled.

I have an activa 130 and the foot won't go all the way down

Is your machine fitted with a knee-lifter ? If so, its possible the knee-lift mechanism has got stuck, which will prevent the foot from coming all the way down. It's also possible that the foot lifter bar has slipped which will require re-setting. When the foot is lifted and the feed-dogs are dropped, there should be a clearance of about 7.5mm between the underside of the foot and the stitch plate.

Hi, the presser foot is stuck in the down position. The presser foot lever has no effect at all. As I have a project underway, I'm having to lift the foot by hand while I get the fabric under the foot but...

You need to get access to the pressure foot bar area. Open the side cover if you can and look to see where the pressure foot lifter lever meets the pressure foot bar lifting block. Maybe the block has sliped upward. You'll need to loosen the screw, slide the block down a bit, tighten the screw, and check to see if this works. (Not knowing what machine you have)

Husqvarna rose tried to run it and the pressure foot light comes flashing on and will not run. yes the presser foot is in the down position

There is a safety switch underneath the presser foot lever, its tucked away in the body cavity and its tough to see. The switch is operated by a metal spring that turns the switch off and on according to the presser foot lifter position. the spring, which kinda looks like a fork, gets compressed each time you lift the presser foot. It wears and works intermitantly. A dealer is the only solution, the back needs to come of, and its a dang tough job to replace without damaging the replacement spring.

The other thing it could be is a jammed check spring inside the tension assembly, again its a tough job as the auto tension assembly must be removed, along with the winder and loosening of the main board.

derek

The presser foot lifter of my Singer 9432 has disconnected

Had the same problem.
Open the cover where the light bulb is.

Follow the presser foot rod up into the machine.

You will find a metal keeper with a set screw facing the now open end of the machine.

That set screw has most likely come loose.

Since the presser foot is spring loaded to the down position leave the presser foot raising lever in the down position.

With your flat bladed screwdriver, gently push the metal keeper to it's lowest position. If it does not go easy, loosen the metal keeper set screw a bit. Lefty loosey.

Tighten the set screw on the metal keeper. Righty tighty.

Presser foot lifter is stuck can i fix it

If you can't lift the presser foot up at all undo the presser bar screw on top of the presser bar, if you have a dial turn it to 0, you should now be able to move the lever, if it is still tight put some WD40 on the presser bar and leave it for a couple of hours.

Can't lift handle for my foot presser

Take the machine apart to the point where you can see the pivot point for the presser bar lifter and spray WD40. Let sit for a few hours and try again. Repeat until the presser bar lifter releases.
