When this happens it usually means that the ignition and battery wire are connected incorrectly. hope this helps...

I would like to knw how do i wire up the radio and what color is the power wire the color of the ground and the color of the memory wire and also the radio has two yellow wires how can i tell which one is...

red is ignition (switched power), black is ground. yellow is constant. you need to use the larger yellow wire. the smaller yellow wire is for operating a changer.

Memory is not kept when car is turned off

there are two battery feeds to your radio.

The main one via the Ignition Switch that works when you turn the ignition key...and the second one is a permanent battery that feeds the memory electronics .

It looks as though the permanent battery is missing so check fuse, connectors +wiring at rear of radio

97 grand cherokee laredo wiring cd player install. can get power to it but have to have battery and ignition switch hooked together how to do it the other way? cause it erases my memory on the cd player...

Hi the ignition wire needs constant power thats how it saves your memory. You will need a test light to find the wire that is constant power. With the key off touch the light tester to the power wires from the radio harness the one that turns the light on with the key off is the ignition wire and is to be connected to the ignition wire from the radio.

Will not hold any memory when radio is turned off

There are two power wires for car radios mostly Red & Yellow check to make sure 1 wire is powered all the time in most cases its the yellow as well check the fuses from the radio on the red and yellow wire also make sure the red wire is only powered when ignition is on but it sounds like that wire is ok good luck....

Re: Volkswagen Beetle 2000 - Cd Changer

your best bet is to find a VW cd changer as it will just plug into the car. To locate this there is a panel that opens up which covers the first aid kit there will be a spot for a cd changer to fit in. in the unlikely event that you need to connect the cable on the back of the radio there are slots on each side which you simple press in and the radio can be pulled out to check the connections. Warning if you disconnect the battery or unplug the radio it will require a code to unlock it after it has been plugged back in. A dealer can provide this code if you do not have it already in the radio operation booklet

Compatible changer

Vicki As far as I know almost any high end JVC will match a compadable changer from another JVC product I say on MOST they will but to be sure IF I was you I would go into a automotive audio store like ABC warehouse or any good electronics store. NOT the super stores like wally world!! there salesman will be able to tell you if its compadible but your gonna need the model of the changer or borrow your sons car and they will look at it as a matter of fact some stores will even install the dash radio for free if its a simple install after you buy the radio. Hope this helps as I know what its like to get radios and equipment stolen from your car as I used to live in NY and in a period of 5 years I got 4 cars stolen and 12 audio systems stolen.!!!! GOOD LUCK and lets know how this turns out??
