I lost the instructions and there is a red light that stays on now. It isunder where the light for the rinse aid is. Are you ableto let me know what this means. Kind regardsTracy

You have not indicated what brand and model machine you have so it is hard to give an answer. If you repost the question with this info someone may be able to help/.

Other than that you may be able to find the user manual for your machine published on a web site as many of them are if you spend a bit of time on research.

The "Rinse Aid" red light

The rinse aid light is just an indicator to let you know the rinse aid is low. You fill it in the container next to where you put the detergent. Just push the yellow button and the lid will pop up. rinse aid is more important on the newer miele dishwashers, as they dont have "active drying" like the older dishwashers did. They depend on the rinse aid to sheet the water off the dishes at the end of the cycle. They are designed this way to reduce energy consumption. If you choose not to use rinse aid, and you dont mind wet dishes at the end of the cycle, either disregard the red light, or fill the rinse aid dispenser with water to trick the machine into thinking it is full.
If you are not going to use the onboard water softener, you can turn it off. Refer to your owners manual, or call miele tech support at 800 843 7231 and they can walk you through the programming to disable the water softener. these are not fault lights, they are simply reminders that you need to fill the containers.

Position for rinse aid

Pl refer the user manual. Rinse aid is not a day to day to fill. It has a different location. Open the door and see whether you get any box visible!

Film on dishes and inside stainless steel panel

You live in a hard water area. Even though dishwasher tablets have salt included you may have to fill the machine with extra salt. (its the large srew top cap in the bottom of your machine, open it and fill it with dishwaher salt your machine came with a large funnel to help you do this) you will have to remove the bottom drawer to do this. next make sure you have rinse aid installed in the door of your machine, next to where you put the tablets in (don't buy cheap rinse aid it's not worth it) when its full of rinse aid the indicator will turn dark, will need both salt and rince aid about every 30 cycles.

Cant find rinse aid container

Many old dishwashers don't have a drying aid dispenser. If you have one, your will find some sort of cap to remove in the door, near where you place the detergent powder.
If you don't have one, you can buy an alternate vesion fo drying air, which is this little "basket" that you hang from the top rack. Avaiable in most stores.

Lost manual, wheres rince aid comp

forget the built in rinse aid, it only works for a couple minutes during the whole wash cycle. go out and buy the rinse/aid or jet/dry package that hangs on the racks and works during the whole cycle. of course use only cascade powder soap and sparingly.

We put in rince aid in must be a leak its always empty model # DUL300XTLQ2

The rinse aid must be going somewhere. Look for a puddle and trace back to source.
