How to put a manual transmission into gear without using the clutch or the trailer gear shifter

There is either a pilot bearing or a pilot bushing that supports the input shaft of the transmission. I don't know which, but if it is a bushing, it would make sense based on your description.
Maybe the clutch quite a bit and were in a position to use the clutch a lot, like in traffic or pulling a trailer, they could have overheated the clutch, which could have allowed the grease to melt and, left it a bit dry or cooked the grease enough to thicken it enough to cause the bushing to hold onto the input shaft, keeping it from stopping as quickly.

How do I fix the wiper assembly on my 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix?

Should be able to just replace the bushing. Take it to a CARQUEST and have the guys look up the assembly. They will have a break down of what can be purchased as parts and not the whole thing.

I have removed all of the screws from the valve body on my transmission and it will not drop down because off the electrical plug-in on the side of the trans. . What is stopping the valve body from coming...

The thirteen pin plug connector you mentioned is stopping you from removing the valve body.
First, locate and remove the heat shield protecting the wiring (transmission should be in the park position). The heat shield is held to the transmission with a bolt on one side and a screw on the other.

Second, disconnect the thirteen pin plug from the guide bushing.

Third, turn the bayonet locked guide bushing counter-clockwise. Loosen and remove guide bushing. The valve body should drop down at this point.

Hope this helps.

I'm replacing the tail shaft seal on transmission. I need to see how the seals are put in transmission

Drive it home with a ball peen hammer.Just a note here, behind every leaking seal is a worn out bushing,so don't be surprised if replacing the seal doesn't stop the leak.Inside the tailshaft housing is a bushing that engages the driveshaft yoke.It should be a fairly tight fit when the yoke is installed and the driveshaft is bolted up.Grasp the driveshaft and yoke and wiggle it up and down, should be just a couple thousandths play.If excessive play,it needs a new bushing which entales removing the extension housing, driving out old bushing, and driving in new bushing which requires bushing drivers. But the seal, you just drive it in with a hammer. It will want to walk the opposite direction,so you have to press it down with your other hand while hitting it with the hammer. Also make sure the seal has some lube on it where it contacts the yoke.A dry seal will rip and leak.
