    Hi

I am trying to reformat the laptop...... the recovery partition that should be on the machine is not there or corrupt and cannot be used... i have reinstalled xp from another CD using the laptops license number but it now wont recognise any drivers,so i think reformatting will be my best option.

    cheers

I'm not sure I understand the question. Are you trying to recover the data off the hard drive or reformat it?

So you are using two different XP discs with two different activation codes? That may cause problems. Anyway you are probably already formated with NTFS. So it sounds like you are trying to re-install XP? Go in set-up and choose the CD/DVD ROM drive as the first boot device then start up with the XP disc in the drive. Use the disc for the original XP that was on the computer. This may get you to a point where you can re-install.

my packard bell laptop crashed on transferring data from my mobile. after that i was unable to boot up in normal windows mode. I managed to access the safe mode however since i initiated systems recovery I can no longer access safe mode or anything else for that matter. The screen is blank and that's it no other operations can be accessed.

Packard bell computer

Do you have any recovery CDs ??
Try powering up while holding 'F11'

You will likely have a the 'MASTER' installation data in a seperate partition on your harddrive.

I wish to restore my packard bell easynote back to its factory settings but when i bought it it did not have a dics. can i do this any other way? regards martin

Getting any information from Packard Bell is like pulling teeth. I recommend looking on ebay for the recovery discs. Or borrow someone's XP CD and insert the key on the bottom of your computer. If you can't get a CD you can call microsoft and purchase one for $27.

I know this is not what you want to hear. But if you have patience you can write to Packard Bell.
