I particularly like AVG anti virus along with Advanced System Care and Malwarebytes for cleanup. Possibly run a disk defrag as well. And seriously consider upgrading your RAM. Good luck!

My Acer Aspire 3680 is extremely slow, breaking up, giving error messages. Started yesterday but has gotten continually worse since then.

Have you installed any new programs recently?
Definitely sounds like spy-ware or a virus, check your system out. If you don't have anti-virus software installed, go here:http://shop.trendmicro.com/trialpay/
and run the anti-virus scan. I'm guessing you've got an infectected PC. For a free anti-virus program, you can go here: http://free.avg.com/download-avg-anti-virus-free-edition If after running the anti-virus scan your machine doesn't run better, please post back for more suggestions and best of luck to you!

I did a scan on my pc and it detected 38 virus th

The easiest and lowest  cost thing to do would be to download Avast!. It is a virus protection software, and if you google search that name, you can download a free trial.  After you download it and you start to set it up, it will ask you if you would like to do a boot time scan on your next restart.  Says yes, and when you restart your computer, it will do a virus scan before booting into windows.  This allows it to remove threats that may be in running memory.  It is very slow, but does a very good job at getting rid of viruses and whatnot.

Acer aspire 5010 laptop windows xp slow performance

Be sure there are not a lot of programs running in the background. Click on start and then run and then type in "msconfig". Click on the Startup tab and uncheck everything that you do not need running when windows starts. Go into the control panel and select add/remove programs and uninstall everything that you do not need on your computer. Run an adware/spyware scanner and run your anti-virus. Do a defrag on the hard drive.

My computer is really slow i noticed i bought an AMD64 but it says my processor is 32 not 64 y

yes i agree with shadowpr, the 32 refers to 32 bit, you may need to run a spyware and virus scan in safe mode (press F8 on start up and highlight start windows in safe mode) or maybe you are low on memory, especially if you are running Vista as sometimes it can be working hard for 5 minutes on boot up causing your system to slow up.

Check what memory you have installed and upgrade if no viruses or spyware are found

I have a acer aspire 9300 and im trying to reboot it back to factory settings as it has slowed down to the pace of a snail since we added msn. i tried to get rid of msn but im still having the same...

yr problem is not factory settings. these what yu will do get it solved. aafter booting, click on start then click on run. yu now type in MSCONFIG in the space provided. a window will come out then u chose the option startup. after clicking on startup, u now click on disable all. then ok it n restart yr system. i shoulkd move faster if it doesnt then i ,might have a virus on yr system, yr ram drive is low in memory or yr hard drive has some bad sectors.
hope this helps
thank u

Pc running slow

If a machine is running slow, there is usually 3 reasons...
1) Remove all spyware using a program
2) Run an anti-virus like AVG Free Anti-Virus to clear any viruses
3) Add some memory to the machine
