BIOS password can be removed using either of these two ways:

1) Take you BIOS cell out for a while and then plug it in again and your BIOS password shall be removed.

2) You can also change your BIOS Jumper Setting. Generally the BIOS jumper resides on pin 1 and 2. You simple take it out and then plant it in on pin 2 and 3. Power on your computer and then power it off. Then change the jumper to default setting that is pin 1 & 2 and then once you shall power on your laptop the BIOS password shall be removed.

The BIOS jumper resides on the motherboard and there is a marking on it stating "BIOS" which shall help you identify the correct jumper.

DG31PR backdoor bios password

You can't. you need to read your manual, locate the cmos reset jumper, and open the case. There is no such thing as bios reset software as it's at the hardware level that bios operates.

No possibility to reset the bios password - do you see any chance without the expensive customer service

Hi

Try this one to reset the password.

BIOS passwords can be reset in two ways,
1. using software 2. using hardware.

I would first try resetting using software, here are two software's to reset orretrieve BIOS passwords.

!BIOS- is a PC BIOS toolkit offering password removal/decrypt and BIOS settingsmodification/backup/restore.

CmosPwd- Cmos password recovery tools

Please let us know if it works.

I have lost the bios password... any body help me to recover without opening case

This is a tricky one because the BIOS password is made to be the hardest password on a computer to break. Some manufacturers allow you to enter BIOS without the BIOS password but most do not. Here are some troubleshooting methods starting with the easiest and moving on to the hardest.

To enter BIOS hit the F2 key repeatedly as the computer boots up. You should enter BIOS after the first loading screen. If this does not send you into BIOS, try the ESC, DEL, and F1 keys. Once in BIOS find where you can set the password and reset it or enter a blank password as your new password.

If you can't access BIOS or are prompted for a password once you enter BIOS, try the following methods to flush the BIOS password cache:
1. Contact your manufacturer's support and ask if they have a backdoor BIOS password that they will allow you to use. This works to allow you to enter that password instead of your own and easily fixes the whole problem, but not all companies will tell you their password. You can also do a google search for your manufacturer's backdoor BIOS password since many of them have been discovered.
2. Send your laptop to your manufacturer to have them reset the password manually, although this takes an undisclosed amount of time and they will often make you pay a fee if you are not under warranty.
3. If you don't want to pay your manufacturer, open your laptop and locate the motherboard. On the motherboard there is a CMOS battery, if you don't know where this is use your PC manual. Remove the CMOS battery for an hour and then place it back on the motherboard. This should reset the password. After this turn on your computer and enter BIOS. This will reset all your BIOS settings so it may take a few minutes to open. After it is open, just exit BIOS and everything should be working properly. Just be very careful when opening the laptop and handling the CMOS battery because you can severely damage your laptop if you don't handle it properly.

Thanks for using FixYa and good luck!

I would like to reset my bios password.I did not put in a password. It just appeared by itself. What can I do?

Hello Benjamin, Laptops in general have much better hardware security than PCs. Some of them even come with fingerprint reader build in.
Most laptops come with a very strong BIOS password capability that locks up the hardware and makes the laptop completely unusable. This is the password that has to be entered before the operating system loads, usually on a black screen a few seconds after the laptop is started.
Of course BIOS password can be set on a PC too, but there it is stored together with the other BIOS settings - date, time, hard disk size, etc. It is very easy to reset the BIOS settings (and the password) on a PC - usually there is a jumper near the BIOS battery on the motherboard that needs to be moved from connecting pins 1+2 to pins 2+3 for a few seconds and than moved back to pins 1+2. Next time the PC is started it will alert you "... BIOS settings invalid... Defaults loaded... Press F1 to continue..." or something similar, and.... the password is gone!
However most laptops store the BIOS password in a special chip, sometimes even hidden under the CPU, that is not affected when the rest of the BIOS settings are reset. This makes the removal of a BIOS password on a laptop almost impossible. The only option in most cases is to replace the chip which is quite expensive and risky procedure and, of course, not supported by the manufacturers.
Some manufacturers (like Dell) can generate a "master password" for a particular laptop (from their service tag) if sufficient proof of ownership is provided. Others (like IBM) would advise replacing the laptop's motherboard (very expensive). On some old laptops (4 - 5 years or older) the BIOS password can still be reset relatively easy, usually by shorting two solder points on the motherboard or by plugging a special plug in the printer port, etc.
In almost all cases on newer laptops it is either a big hassle, expensive or even impossible to reset the BIOS password, making it a very good way of protecting your laptop from unauthorized use.
However what makes your computer exactly yours are your own files, documents, emails, pictures, etc. They are all stored on the hard drive. So, even if your laptop has a BIOS password that locks it up and makes it completely unusable to anyone that doesn't know it, your hard drive can still be removed from the laptop and connected to another computer, and your files retrieved quite easily.
