Question about HP Officejet Pro K5400 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

New HP officejet pro k5400 prints yellow instead of black

When I did the installation the yellow cartridge light was on at the end, which I think signifies no ink but I removed it and put it back in again and the light went off. However the printer now prints most of the black as yellow. I have aligned printheads, cleaned printheads and even calibrated line feeds for the hell of it, as when it comes to printers I'm not an expert. Did you fix this or does anyone else have any additional advice on this? For example, is there any way to redo the whole start up process that it does on installation? Thanks.

Black ink not printing properly on HP Officejet Pro K5400. It's a new cartridge, have tried another cartridge too but same problem.

The print head may be blocked.
Run the cleaning cycle a few times on the machine.
This can be done through the software drivers loaded on your computer.
If this does not help, you will need to replace the black print head.

Try Cleaning the Cartridges manually and automatically.
For the cartridge clean it with a damp lint free cloth and also for the printheads wher eyour gonna be inserting the cartridges.
Follow these steps do do the automatic aligning and cleaning:
Click Start and then go to Printers and Faxes (XP), Printers(Vista), Devices and Printers(Win 7)
1. Right Click on your printer Icon 2. Go to Printing Preferences 3. Click the Features Tab 4. At the bottom of the window you will see Printer Services or Device Services. Click on it. 5. Choose Align Printheads on the list.

For Cleaning the Printheads, Instead of choosing Align Printer choose Clean Printheads.
I hope this helped.
Try Printing Again. I hope I was able to solve your problem. :)

OfficeJet Pro K5400...ink cartridge

Er, NO.
The answer to the above question is clearly misleading.
If you consult the documentation for your HP K5400, which can also be found online, you will find that the printer cartridge lights also blink when the print heads require replacing.
If you have replaced the cartridge and the light still flashes, this is the most common solution. Replace the print heads.
Unfortunately because the printer is badly designed, there is no way of indicating this, and you will have troubles if you attempt to get the HP Toolbox or any other diagnostic tools working.
Good luck!

My KY yellow light is blinking. What should I do?

The k5400 is not recognizing that the ink cartridge is installed. Clean the contacts on the back of the ink cartridge and also the contacts in the K5400 printer. I always use 91% isopropyl alcohol, Hp says to use distilled water. Do let the contacts completely dry before reinstalling.
