When fou re-boot use the appropriate "F" key, displayed during pre-boot, as in "F2" to enter "BOOT SELECT" select HDD and "enter". Let us know what happens. You could try different "options. Have you removed the power , battery and replacing battery, plug into AC outlet? A "Cold-Restart?

Seems the MBR isn't beening recognized, a cold start should reset.

Will what I mean by cold-start is remove all power, battery, plugs, hold start button down to drain any power left in capacitors. The nomenclature may be different but I'm sure you are familiar with the procedure.

If the person could get to a pre-boot screen and use the F key that appropriate to load the BOOT SELECT page, mine is "F2" and select HDD. I don't know if that can not be done or hasen't be tried yet?

I have seen the screens (black with a blinking cursor) many times. The MBR is not found, or there is a problem in the selection of boot option, as in it's trying to boot from the DVD/CD drive or other boot options.

Intresting no error message ok so laptop works fine this looks like a hard drive issue

1 windows is too unstable to load
2 no hard drive or hard drive has a bad connection

when u start up go in to the bios by pressing usualy f2 ull get a screen up u can only move around on ur keyboard

dont change anything just look at it ur looking for primery hard drive itl tell u what hard drive u have if its picking it up at all

once u done that press f10 to exit without saveing

then tell us if posible video it so i can see what u see in the bios

Black rectangle at lower center of screen that blocks most of the tv. adjusting volume takes it away temporarily and then it reappears. don't know if we inadvertently turned on a funcion from the remote.

Take your remote, go into menu, scroll down to captions, right arrow to 1,2,3,off, when cursor is over off press enter on the remote, that should clear the black box and give normal tv viewing.

Sounds like you want to do a lot of things with your camera but don't have the manual. You can download one at the support section of the Pentax website.

Mouse stopped working, but appears ok, batteries ok, can't determine problem

Hope this helps others. My mouse stopped controlling cursor but buttons worked. Problem was it would not work on a black table. Slip a piece of white paper under it and waaala! It works. I'm thinking optical mouse and dark surface might be an issue.
