I Have an Ariston MicroGenus 27. Central heating works fine but Often there is no hot water. when there is hot water the boiler will only fire up & heat to 40 on the front panel display. Other times there is no hot water at all. Engineer vivited but the boiler started to work fine just before he arrived & he was unable to provide any other assistance in this matter. Any ideas on what the problem could be?

I have a BAXI combi Instant 105 HE bolier. It has been very cold for the past week and the hot water is not working (though the heating is). I have cleared the overflow flu pipe of ice but this has not solved the problem. Any suggestions?
The leak is coming from a seal around the pin that the motor acts upon, the seal does not come as a replaceable part on its own, so the whole flow group as it is called will need to be replaced, approximate price 170 to 200 pounds inc vat, makers part no 998613. plus 2 or 3 hours labour of a corgi registered engineer. If your boiler is more than 6 years old and you have not had to replace the fan or other parts yet, then think about getting a new high efficiency boiler, it could be a better long term solution.
im an engineer and recently had exactly the same thing with this ariston boiler, i found out it was the the 'air pressure switch', this is a switch which is part of the ignition, it works in conjuction with the fan. when the boiler fires up the air pressure switch makes, if its faulty it can break the circuit mid flow and cause the burner to shut down therefore giving intermittent hot water and heating, theres a possibility that the aps tubes may be damaged as well so ensure they'e condition is good. hope this helps you
