I followed the instruction and did something while trying to correct problem. After step 10, it came back with the same problem plus this message:
    --------------------------------------------
    Ink System Failure
The ink system has failed and can no longer print.
    Refer to printer documentation.
    --------------------------------------------
On the printer window, it displayed the same error: Ink system failure with the same error code except the last 3 character,
    Error: 0xc18a0306

  • aavarce Jan 03, 2009

I tried to clean, does not look dirty. I kind of wipe it with tissue paper, put back the ink cartriges, did not help. The message did not go away.

  • aavarce Jan 03, 2009

    I don't understand:
    -------------------------------------------------
Hold down instant share & photo tray buttons while plugging in power cord
    -------------------------------------------------
This means I should pull the plug out first from the wall. I don't see where the instant share and photo tray buttons are. I see the photo tray that is being pulled out, not buttons. Where is instant share buttons?
    Thank you.

    --------------------------------------------
u need to open the printer and replace this ink carriage assembly cable to solve this problem 100%.
    ------------------------------------------
This is getting complicated. I am not a technician. I am afraid to touch anything or where to begin. I don't know what cable or card to look for or where they are located.
I leave in Middlesex, NJ. Is there a Repair place I can bring this to be fix? I promised to send this printer (once fixed) to my daughter in Japan who is in the U.S. Navy. I thought it would be a simple problem.

  • aavarce Jan 03, 2009

I tried to follow the instruction. Even before I put back the ink cartiges, the same message appeared on the LCD of the printer for the same Ink system failure and the same error code. I put the ink back and put the USB back. Nothing happened. I tried to ignore the message and tried to print anyway, I got an Error-print message on the file I was trying to print. What else can I do. Help.

  • aavarce Jan 03, 2009

These inks are too expensive. Anyway I opened a brand new box of the cartriges and replaced each one. The message is not gong away. I press okay. Message came Geniun HP Ink cartriges installed. I tried to print my test file. It did not print. Print status on the computer showed "Error-Print. I tried to do regular copy from the glass, press Start Copy, them the same messaged appeared for the INK system failed. Same error code.

  • aavarce Jan 04, 2009

This is the best result I got because I was able to make a photocopy of a document on the glass. But when I tried to print a file from the coputer, I am getting Error-Print on the print status from c7100 displayed on the computer. I think I am getting close to solving the problem, but need more help.

  • aavarce Jan 04, 2009

I am not getting that Ink System error anymore from the LCD of the printer, but I cannot print file from the computer. I am getting Error-Print e status from the computer when I check what happened to the file I want to print.

The Printer will start the “ONE TIME INK INITIALIZATION PROCESS”. Allow this process to complete and do not interrupt. Once the initialization process is complete, the printer will print out a Diagnostic Page.

Is the error message still being displayed on the printer?

Let us print a self test page to check the functionality of the printer.
Press Setup menu on the All-in-One then scroll using the arrow key and select Print Report then select Self Test Report.

Try doing this steps:
Hold down instant share & photo tray buttons while plugging in power cord , printer will power up & you will see 12345 on lcd screen, pull power plug and then plug it in & turn on the unit is reset & will start purging ink system...

If still the same problem you can try to update the firmware of this printer and that will help to solve this problem.....

Can't you simply Contact HP, they will ask you to repeat once again the operation I told you, then send you a software patch to fix the problem, then if it still does not work they will give you a quote to have the ink pump replaced.

It is quite simple, I wonder if you can read my comments.

The error that you are having is a hardware issue, it means your printer has an Ink System Failure. Believe me, there's no use going through troubleshooting for this one. Call HP and just Upgrade your printer. HP Printer Tech Support would be more than happy in giving you discounts and an extra year of warranty for $1.00.

Hp c7180 ink failure

Here is the exact sequence for the C7180. It worked great for me:
This is easily fixed with the following key sequences. You do NOT have to open the printer and unplug a circuit board.

1) press * and # at the same time
2) press 1, 2, 3 and “support R0632M” should display
3) press > and “information menu” should display
4) press > and “configuration menu” should display
5) press OK and “hardware failure status” should display
6) press OK “failure status: clear”. Press OK to clear
7) press CANCEL
8) press CANCEL
9) press CANCEL
10) turn printer off, unplug power cord for 2 minutes, plug cord back in then turn printer back on.
NOTE: I did this and the fist time the error came back. Do the sequence again (as I did) and the error will be replaced with the usual print cartridge initialization screens. Print a test page to make sure.
