Question about Whirlpool Dryers

2 Answers

Whirlpool, ultimate care ii, elec dryer. Why is the dryer heating clothes up, but not drying them? It takes two to three 70 minutes cycles to get clothes dry. When I open the door, it feels really warm in there. What's going on?

SOURCE: steam comes out of dryer after cycle and door is opened

Probably has a restricted vent. Go outside with dryer running and check air coming out vent. Should be a good blast...not just a breath. Clean out the vent and make sure it's not kinked. If it vinyl or foil vent, replace it! Also make sure lint screen is cleaned everytime.

Make sure that the vents are cleaned to include outside. Where it hook on to the dryer make sure that the housing is cleaned also. That should take care of the problem. Thankyou and if you need more help let us know.

The dryer is fine. Don't waste money on any parts. The problem is the exhaust is clogged or restricted from behind the dryer to the outside of your home. Pull dryer from wall and remove exhaust from wall. Get an electric leaf blower and stick inside wall exhaust. Push dryer back against it to hold it in place. Turn the blower on and go outside to watch every thing fly out of the exhaust. Have fun and good luck.

Will not spin

The final cycle of any washing machine, including Whirlpool units, is the spin cycle. During this cycle, water is sucked out of the load, preparing the clothes for the dryer. If your spin cycle isn't working properly, your clothes will be extremely wet, which increases the length of the drying process. Troubleshoot, and repair this problem yourself to save money

My dryer takes forever to dry anything and often times will not turn on when i press start after it's been ran for a 70 minute cycle but will turn itself on after sitting for awhile my dryer is

This caused by one of two possible things. Either you have poor air flow, or a clogged vent preventing air from flowing freely and therefor making the dryer short cycle, which in turn will take you two or three times to dry yor clothes, or the heating element has gone bad, burnt in half and is making contact with the case to provide it just enough power to barely heat. The second thing is a very rare occurance. I would turn the dryer on, find out where the air vents out to, and with the dryer running, go to where it vents and check to see if there is a strong flow of air. 9 times out of 10 that is going to be your problem. Another way to check air flow is to just pull the vent off the back and let the dryer run and see if your clothes dry faster. If you do it that way and they still take a long time to dry, then you'll probably need to replace the heating element

Have heat & tumbling but will take 3 hrs to dry a load/ no jeans

Likely that your Dryer vent is clogged up. Especially if its long. Check that by hooking up a shopvac to one end with duct tape to seal any air leaks between the vent pipe and the vac hose. Turn it on and check the other end of the vent pipe for suction. If its faint then there may be a crapload of lint in there or a birds nest. Compressed air in the pipe with an agitating device may work or shopvac hose if run is short. Be prepared for a mess on either end.

Hello, please make sure that the dryer vent is clear and blowing properly . If not this causes the heater to short cycle which in turn increases your drying times. good luck
