Finalizing.. recorded time different than on disc info???

Finalising means to make the disc read only and allow standard CD/DVD home players play it.
All it does is set the size of the recording and does not affect the TOC.

PS - as this is a home hi-fi and not a car-radio, I've moved it from 'Cars & Trucks' to a new home 'Audio Players../Pioneer', where experts in that field can offer more help.

My TDK 5900 CD recorder will not read CD-R 52x discs. Is there a software/firmware upgrade that will correct this?

The CD-R audio is not an obsolete format. Here's one set of writable discs from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Sony-50CRM80RS-Audio-50-Pack-Spindle/dp/B0002ZDIKW/179-2088873-7802310?ie=UTF8&*Version*=1&*entries*=0 . It is not the cheapest CD format, but they are out there. Amazon lists several other brands of CD-R Audio.

I hope this helps.

Dubbed DVDs will not play

You have to use the Magnavox dual to finalize the discs, and then they should be able to play on other players. I don't have a manual for that exact recorder, but in general you would go to the Settings Menu of the DVD player --> go to Disc Edit --> and then select Finalize - the exact pathway might be a bit different on that particular recorder. Once you have finalized one of your discs, try it on another DVD player and see if it works. Good luck!

Recording and viewing different channels

The EX75 has only one tuner circuit, so you can't watch a different channel from the one you're recording. To do this you will either need a set-top box for Freeview or a Freeview compatible TV.

Dvd is unable to read disk that i recoreded on the lg dvd recorder

It would be nothing to do with the TV.

DVD RW discs only last for so long if you have re-written to them many times they may be just worn out. Or is it with all RW discs?

Are you trying to watch them on the same player you recorded them on or is it a different DVD Player you are trying to watch them on?

Play Back

Some DVD players can't read -R & -RW disks. When you finalize make sure it is in Video mode not VR mode so the recorded disk will be able to work in most other DVD players. Also some DVD players only read recorded disks rated up to 1x, 4x, 8x, 16x, or a combination of these speeds.
