Thank you for your attempt to help. I tried your suggestion but it did not solve my problem. Let me attempt to describe my problem better. In "Add /Remove Programs", when selecting the "Add/Remove Windows Components" I receive the error message of "Setup was unable to locate the master information file" and then the error message of "The applicaiton could not be initiated". Any help or suggestions would be appreciated,

Im not sure which file you are referring to but you could just a repair of the installation
this is fot the master boot record

if there are any other files , settings or programs during the repair process options for these should be available

Insert your Windows XP installation CD or recovery disc, and restart the computer.

Instead of attempting to boot Windows as it normally would, the computer will give you an option to boot from the CD.

Press a key when prompted, then wait for the setup program to load.

Press the "R" key on the "Welcome to Setup" screen.

This will cause the CD to launch the Recovery Console instead of attempting to install Windows XP on your computer.

If you have an administrator password on your copy of XP, then you will need to enter it in order to log in to the Recovery Console.

Choose the installation of Windows XP that you want to repair (generally the only option). Wait for the command prompt to appear, then enter "fixmbr." Press "y" when prompted to let the FixMBR utility overwrite the corrupted bootloader with a new copy.

Remove your XP disc or recovery disc, then type "exit" into the command prompt.

The exit command should cause the computer to reboot, allowing the computer to load the new bootloader file and then continue Windows XP startup as normal.

Hope this helps

SOURCE: I tried to download MS Paint from control

1. Open a cmd line
2. start
3. then click on run, type "cmd" in the box then ok.
4. When the cmd box pops up c:>
5. type: c:>\windows\inf\sysoc.inf
6. when the note pad window pops up scroll down till you see the line:

TabletPC=tabletoc.dll,TabletSetupProc,Tabletpc.inf,HIDE,7

It would be wise to save the "TabletPC=tabletoc.dll,TabletSetupProc,Tabletpc.inf,HIDE,7" string to replace if anything goes wrong.

Just cut and paste in word etc and you can just paste it back in the sysoc notepad if anything weird happens, OR

7. Simply highlight this then delete it. Now hit save in the file option tab. Close the window and now you should have access to the change or delete files in the control panel..

if this works for you let me know

Outlookhotmail...how do I get out of it??? I want my old hotmail back

For those who find Microsoft Outlook to be unnecessary, getting rid of the program can feel like it's harder than it really is. There are three methods that this process will go over. This process also shows how to uninstall Outlook without uninstalling other programs you may have installed with Microsoft Office. Click on the "Start" button and select the "Control Panel." From the control panel window, double-click on the "Add/Remove Programs" icon. Scroll down the list of programs until you see the listing for Microsoft Office, and click once on it. (It may say "Professional Edition 2003" or whichever version you have installed.) Then click the button "Change." Next you will see a window pop-up for Microsoft Office Setup. Select the dot on "Add or Remove Features." Uncheck the box for Microsoft Outlook and click on "Update." The setup will then begin to process the removal from the system. b> Removing Outlook Through Windows Components Wizard b> Click on the "Start" button and select the "Control Panel." From the Control Panel window, double-click on the "Add/Remove Programs" icon. When the window pops up, click on the "Add/Remove Windows Components" icon at the right side of the window. The Windows Component Wizard will appear. Scroll down the list of components up to Outlook Express. Uncheck the box next to the icon and click "Next." Click "Finish" once the process has completed. b> How to Remove Hidden Outlook Files b> To perform this process, you must allow Windows to show hidden files and folders. To do this, open any folder and click on the "Tools" button. Under the View tab in Folder Options, scroll down the Advanced list until you see "Hidden Files and Folders." Place the dot on "Show Hidden Files and Folders." (If you want to undo this later, follow this same step and place the dot back on "Do not show hidden files and folders.")= Once you can see the hidden files, open another folder and type "C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft" into the Address bar, and press "Enter." This will open the folder where the hidden Outlook files are located.(%username% is the name of the administrator or user on your computer. For example, if your name is John Doe, you would type "C:\Documents and Settings\John Doe\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft.") Click on the Outlook folder and delete it. Check the Office folder as well because there might be Outlook files in there as well. If there are any, delete them.
Disconnect Hotmail From Outlook b> Many people use Microsoft Outlook to manage their email accounts. Even email accounts that have Web interfaces, such as Microsoft's Hotmail, are able to utilize Outlook's more robust feature set. When you stop using an account, however, you might want to remove it from your Outlook accounts. You can remove your old Hotmail account from Outlook's "Account Information" menu. Click the "File" tab and click "Account Settings" on the "Account Information" menu. Click to select your Hotmail account from the list and click "Remove." Click "Yes" to confirm that you want to remove the account. Hope this helps.

How do i install adobe in my system from net

Directly installing Adobe Photoshop 7.0 from internet is not feasible.
Download setup or use Adobe Photshop 7.0 CD to start installation.
Close anyprograms or applications that may be currently running on the computer. Saveany open documents that may also be open to avoid losing work during theinstallation process
Insert theAdobe PhotoShop 7.0 software installation disc into your CD-ROM drive. Allowthe computer to run and detect the installation disc. Upon detection, the AdobePhotoShop 7.0 Setup Welcome Screen will load. (Skip this step if the setup is located in the PC, click the setup icon to Start the setup)

Click"Next" on the Warning screen that will open after the Setup WelcomeScreen redirects. Select theradio button that applies to your personal status and ownership of the program, whether it be Individual or business.
Type yourtitle or salutation, first and last name, and company name (if any), in theUser Information window's designated data forms.
Enter theserial number 24 digit serial code in the six blank data form boxes at thebottom of the User Information window. Click "Next" to advance to theFile Association settings. Click the"All to PS" and "All to IR", which indicates that PhotoShop7.0. supports all file types, and click "Next" to begin installingand copying the software's files, functions, and components to your computer'shard drive.
Click the"OK" button in the pop-up window that will appear to conclude theinstallation process.

Hay Bahratt, I have uninstalled the 3 SQL programs in the control panel a few times with no effect on the issue. I didn't try moving directory C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL to another...

If you have removed it from control panel, its done. You just have to clean up any left over registry entries using CCleaner and then try installing again

You may also want to check out this microsoft link if it doesn;t work

Scanner problems

This worked for me. You want to start fresh so delete your HP printer in "Printers and Faxes". Also delete any HP software that loaded in Control Panel "Add and Remove Programs". Next in Control Panel under "Add and Remove Programs", the "Add and Remove Windows Components" TAB, check mark the file to add called "Other Network File and Print Services". After clicking next, the extra print files will load. Reload your software/ HP drivers and it should be fine.

Windows media center on start up freezes computer, why

When that happens you usually need to backup your data, and reinstall the system to fix Windows corrupted files.

Try first doing a system restore to the most recent date before you started having the problem. If system files are damaged this will not help.

The media center is part of the WMC operative system. You can also reinstall media center alone using add remove programs, then Add remove windows components. Often that does not work, and you need to use a Windows MCE setup disk to fix the problem.

LSASS "Unable to Load Component" Error

I think because of the power failure, some parts in your hard drive are broken, bad sector may be.
So, when reinstalling, I suggest you to do full format, not a quick format. That way, the installation will recognize the place where bad sector is located, and will not put anything at that place.
Can not load component, usually because windows can not read from the disk.
