Upgrading BIOS! If it isn't broken don't fix it. Upgrading is a scapegoat fix, and many manufactures have a disclaimer. "You are on you own, and the likes for a reason. Most solutions are found elsewhere. However, if you truly need to update read this to help you with the upgrade. http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/10things/10-common-mistakes-you-should-avoid-when-flashing-your-bios/357

Bios is not ACPI complaint

It's possible that the BIOS setup has been accidentally set to non ACPI mode. Check in the setup to ensure ACPI is enabled.Other possible causes are memory expansion, overclocking and incompatible driver software. Check out what you have recently installed or updated on your computer.This can occur if Windows has detected that the BIOS in the computer is not fully compliant with Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI). To correct this problem, contact the manufacturer of your computer to obtain a BIOS update that is fully ACPI compliant. (If your PC is an older model, a BIOS update may not be available). There are third party companies that will write a BIOS update for your computer for a fee which may make it more cost effective to replace your computer.You may also find help on this Microsoft Support Site.

ACPI is not a compliant

Enter you bios & disable ACPI. Restart the system. Than update your windows. There should be an update for ACPI through Microsoft update service. Once installed restart your system & enter into your bios. Now enable ACPI. Save & exit the bios.
If this does not help you can try the work around found on Microsoft's web site. See the link provided;

Dell Inspiron 1100 Bios and ACPI

Please contact your system vendor for an updated bios. If you are unable to obtain an updated bios or the latest bios supplied by your vendor is not ACPI compliant, you can turn off ACPI mode during text mode setup. To do this, simply press the F7 key when you are prompted to install storage drivers. The system will not notify you that the F7 key was pressed - it will silently disable ACPI and allow you to continue your installation."

RESOLUTION
Manually install the Standard PC hardware abstraction layer (HAL):
1. Reboot the computer to restart Setup.
2. When Setup starts again, press F7 when you see the "Press F6 if you need to install a third-party SCSI or RAID driver" screen.
Windows automatically disables the installation of the ACPI HAL and installs the Standard PC HAL. You should also contact the manufacturer of your computer to obtain a BIOS that is fully ACPI compliant

I have ACPI problem. said when i was trying to install os on my system and it said "the bios in this system is not fully ACPI compliant" pls what can i do

For that particular software you are using,,the ACPI thinks your Bios needs updating.
You can re flash the Bios to a newer version if one is available, and if one isn't available,,then i would suggest turning off the ACPI functions in your system Bios.
ACPI controls the power saving features of your machine via the software, also the power saving features on any legacy devices attached to your system.

The BIOS in the system is not fully ACPI compliant. I want to updated BIOS. How can I do?

Hi meangmoeurn, what makes you think your bios is not ACPI complaint?
Enter your bios & disable ACPI. The reason for this is windows must be fully updated. One windows has been fully updated you can turn on ACPI. Its a software issue.
Read through this Microsoft link;
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314088

Update for ACPI, (Windows update);
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=B0FF829D-C427-4F40-BC56-F481837EFFBE&displaylang=en
The above update should be included with other updates. This is why I suggested the above.
If you still feel you need to update your bios,
(Flash Utility software). I'll need the motherboard model number & manufacture's name.

Good luck meangmoeurn!
Feel free to correct me on this issue.
Thank you for using fixya.

Acpi bios

Hi suleman_indi, I'm guessing you have a question about the D845GVSR motherboard. If your question refers to the bios setting for ACPI. Disable it until windows has been updated to SP2. Enter your bios & enable the ACPI. Should be fine once windows has been updated. Click on this link to load Intel's site for the Intel D845GVSR motherboard.
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Product_Search.aspx?Prod_nm=+D845GVSR&lang=eng&MissingSearchTxt=Please+enter+a+valid+product+name%2C+filename+or+product+ID+%23.&x=21&y=5
If you find you need more information, feel free to update your question.

Good luck!

System reboots when acpi turned off

Hi martinkp, what you need is the update from windows. Leave you're acpi enabled withing the bios. Check windows update. Windows will update (windows software for the acpi). Rule of thumb concerning windows update. Check the dates of the updates & install in order, oldest to newest. This should fix you're system from shutting down. There will be no reason to turn off acpi after updating.
