Question about OEM Systems PIXMA iP3300 Photo Printer
I replaced the black ink cartridge - since then i can not get it to print black
Print head maybe blocked and needs cleaning.
I stumbled on an ebay seller who is selling cleaning solution for print heads. Canon print heads are removable without special tools.
I gave mine a clean with metho, as I figured that it could not get any worse and I got the gist that I was going to have to replace the printer anyway.
I cleaned it with metho (just the bottom of the print head) and ran the clean print head function twice from maintenance and it is not working perfectly.
I do recommending taking this advice with caution as I do not know if this process could cause further damage or not work.

Did you make sure you took the little plastic sticker off the ink cartridge believe it or not alot of people forget it is on there

Had the same problem but this worked for me. To force a cartridge change, press and hold down the PAPER FEED button for at least 5 seconds as suggested here:
I then changed the black cartridge, even though I hadn't used much ink from the old cartridge and the computer was showing it as three quarters full.

Sorry to say but NO you can't print if there are other inks which ae empty, thats one safety features of epson printers to prevent nozzle clogging. change the other ink carts as well for you to continue printing.

SOURCE: new cartridge won't print
re-seat the black cartidge, do head cleaning, get a windows test page (go to printers and faxes then right click on the printer icon and choose properties, click the print test page button).
replacing ink cart is the next step or service.

Fix ink cartridge
I had same problem. I must have ran the clean cycle more than 30-50 times over a period of days. That never made any difference. I was about to toss the whole thing but figured I would try one more thing. If it didn't work I would be in no worse shape. Here is what I did.
Took an almost empty black cartridge and inject a lot of 100% Acetone to dilute ink. Left some black in it since I didn't want to think it was empty. Inserted this cartridge and ran the cleaning a few time. IT WORKED. I used my word processor program and filled a page with large bold font characters and printed a page or two. Each page cleared more nozzles. After doing this cleaning/printing a number of time, I put in the full good cartridge. Ran the cleaning a few time to eject any of the Acetone diluted ink. Ran the printed page a few time to remove more of the diluted ink.
Everything seems to work now.

Try wiping the copper contacts on the new cartridge with a dustfree cloth dampened with some alcohol. Dry thoroughly before reinstalling.
