Folks, Have an HP A 305 W. Was in cold storage because we got a new one. Got it out today to get all my important tax stuff out of there and it wont turn on. I push in the powerbutton in and it just makes a clicking sound. We got a new one because it was time and the old would shut down automatically after only running an hour or so

Depends on what you are trying to do. If you are installing a new e-mail client, there should be an import feature. You can also go into Outlook Express and export all your stuff and then import into the new program. This is all the help I can give right now, because you haven't told us what it is you are trying to do (like what program you are trying to use)
You could buy a new (bigger? faster RPM?) disk-drive, and remove the old disk-drive.
Install Windows onto the new disk-drive.
Then, buy an adapter (USB connector at one end, and adapter for a disk-drive at the other end).
Connect the old disk-drive to the adapter, and connect it to a USB port on your computer.
Copy all your important stuff from the old disk-drive to the new disk-drive.
All your files will be there, even though the "essential" files that you need to start-up Windows have been corrupted.
Finally, buy an external disk-drive, and use it to create weekly backups of your stuff.
Do NOT delete the files from your disk-drive, to leave the ONLY copy of your files on the external drive.

If you only your files to be copied in the other or any storage disk then you can remove the hard disk of your machine and then attached it to the other functional machine. in there you can browse and copy all the important files. after copying all your files then you can take back the hard drive to your non functional machine and then install new operating system. documentation found here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/316941
tell me if something wrong with your system when applying the solution.
Yes. Most new computers today don't come with a floppy drive as they are pretty much obsolete. If you need a floppy drive because you have a bunch of floppies around with important stuff on them, you can purchase an external usb floppy drive for around $20 or so.
