In order to connect to Xbox Live with a Wireless Modem and Router, you will need a Xbox 360 Wireless Adapter. You can get a Xbox Wireless Adapter cheap on eBay, or you can buy it Microsoft at Gamestop.
To find your MTU Settings, follow these steps.
1. Click on 'Start'
2. Click on 'Run...'
3. In the bar, type CMD, and hit enter.
4. A black box should appear. Type "ipconfig" without quotation marks in the field.
5. Your IP Address, Subnet Mask, and Default Gateway codes should pop up.
6 Go to your internet browser and type you IP Address into the URL box.
7. You should find MTU settings, and you can set them to your desire.

My Xbox live requires me to set the MTU to 1364 but I cannot find anywhere on my DLINK DSL2642B router to set the MTU, any ideas?

1. Connect to your router's admin interface. Usually The default username is "admin" (without the quotes) and the default password is blank.

2. Click on the WAN button from the left vertical menu.

3. Find the "MTU" towards the bottom, enter your desired MTU value (usually 1500, or 1492 for PPPoE) in the text field, and click Apply. The router will restart to apply the new settings.

How do i access my mtu settings on the actiontec GT704WGB

For you to access the MTU settings of your router you need to access the WAN IP Address Page. make sure that you're using a computer that is connect to the router. Open a browser and type on the address bar. The Home screen will appear then click on Advanced Setup. it will ask you for a username and password. The Default Username is admin and Password is password. On the Advanced Setup Screen click on the WAN IP Address. Click Yes on the Warning Screen to continue. MTU settings is located on the lower part of the screen.

Same problem as original poster.

Try to reduce the MTU of your router. Access the router's setup page and look for MTU settings. Set it to manual. If you are on DSL Internet, set the MTU to 1492. If you are on Cable Internet 1400. Power cycle the router after that. Then if that didn't help, you need to udpate the firmware of your router and hard reset it after the firmware update.

I am experiencing lag on my game. This has been going on for about a week. What do i do to fix this problem?

Try to adjust the MTU of the router. If your internet connection is DSL, set the MTU of the router to 1492. If your on Cable internet, MTU is 1463. If that didn't help, try to connect directly to your modem and maybe your modem is the one giving your problem and not the router. Good Luck

Changing mtu settings

From a wired or wirelessly connected device do the following:-
1. Click start --> (sometimes settings) --> Control Panel --> Network Connections
2. Double click on the active connection which will say connected underneath
3. Click Support
4. Click Details
5. Now the Default Gateway value is the IP Address of your modem/router
usually, or
6. Note this value down
7. Click OK
8. Click OK or Close
9. Now open Internet Explorer
10. Enter http:// followed by your gateway address noted in 6. above
11. You will now have to enter a username and password
If the box has the username and password completed, then click OK
If there is no value for username try "admin" and for the password try one of the following "password", "admin",
Also try nothing for the username and "admin" for the password
Sometimes the value for these are written on the underneath of the router
On the left look for the WAN or WAN Setup in there should be a vlaue for the MTU
overtype in your new value and click "Save" or "Apply"

I have a netgear wireless router. I plugged it into my actiontec wireless ready dsl gateway. How do i get it to work wireless

Assuming the dsl gateway your talking about is the one in the link below

You do not need to use another wireless router as the gateway you have already is one. On your wireless pc you should be able to see it in the list of wireless networks available to you.
